Engineers Frustration

So if I have grade 1 access to an engineer I can pin a grade 5 blueprint. But when I unlock grade 5 access the G5 blueprint doesn't unlock? So what was the point of letting me pin the grade 5 blueprint? Consider this a stiff letter FDev.

I might be misunderstanding the issue, but if I am reading correctly.. you went to the engineer and pinned the blueprint and left. Now later on, you're trying to take the item to grade 5 using remote engineering?

If that's the case, then you might have to go back to the Engineer. Engineering an item remotely does not grant you reputation with that engineer. So lets say you had grade 4 access and you pinned the blue print and left. You will never be able to get that item to grade 5 remotely because your remote rolls are not counting your reputation with that engineer and you only have grade 4 access. You will only have access remotely at the level you had when you pinned the blueprint, if you want to go beyond that then you need to return to the Engineer and do your rolls there to increase your access level with that engineer.

I hope that makes sense.

To add to the above: You do not pin a particular grade blueprint. You pin the type of modification. For example, you don’t pin increased range g5 fsd at Farseer, you just pin increased range fsd. If you have sufficient reputation with the engineer, they will then allow you to make any grade of the blueprint that they give access to - as indicated by the pin symbol after you pin the blueprint.
