FSD Injection.

You don't jump farther, meaning if your jump range is 25ly you can now jump 35ly. You just get more gas. I think. Or I should say your FSD uses gas better.

It's like modifying a two barrel carberator to do the same as a four barrel. Better milage, using the same horse power.

So if you don't jump further why does it say ... you jump further???

You do jump further. Not from 1 star to another but from your starting point to your destination. ie you can jump 300ly on a tank of gas instead of 250.

you have to pick your jumptarget manually.

if you switch to gal map - route plotting you get the option for "fsd boost" and level.

it'll show you all systems in jumprange, pick the one to jump to, jump to it.

For now when you supercharge your FSD either by jet cones or injections you need to waypoint a star that's at your new jump range then hyperspace to it. You'll still use the normal amount of fuel so jumping 250 light years in a Conda will still burn like 8 tons of fuel. Now I know with jet cone boosts you can't plan a route but I think you can with injections.

My bad. Rep to you Factabulous. I could never get it to work like that. This game never ceases to tell me how "challenged" I am. lol

No worries - I had to be 'convinced' I was wrong about beta decals earlier in the day - it's the ones who won't accept any evidence that clashes with their worldview I have a problem with ;)

Still don't know about Old Duck's question about damage yet - but I haven't noticed any yet...

in the pulsars case its not the injection itself that is damaging, its that large radiaion cone your bathing the ship in thats doing the damage. from what ive seen doing plenty of injections fancy fuels dont do any damage, other then usual wear and tear.

If your FSD is still at 100% after using it, then I assume it's safe :)

Yeah FSD injections are safe to use. No damage done to the drive.

I mainly just use it for jumping right by systems where cmdr pirates might be lurking. Like the rare trade CG that just finished, on the way to a system with rares I spotted some cmdrs just loitering next to a star, figured they were waiting for cmdrs with goods to come through so they could pirate them, so on the return trip I just used the FSD injection to bypass it.
