FSD Range?!?

I guess I don't know exactly how FSDs work. I upgraded to an A4 FSD. My range (at my current cargo) is stated as 24.17 ly. Shouldn't I be able to pick a system within 24 ly and be able to jump to that system in one jump?

You should be able to, yes. However, you might need to plot that jump from the Galaxy Map - the left side panel only goes up to a maximum number of items (and I think a set maximum range as well), independent of what systems you can actually jump to.

Yes, thats how it works. You do need to set the route planner to "fastest route" tho, else it tries to navigate you on the cheap, which still means 812346827346 jumps for about 2 Ly travel.
Also note, you can't jump *through* other systems so sometimes your jumps are still shorter.

Also depends how much cargo you have. use the slider bar in the galxy map to see your fully laden range.
Quite often its not on the nav panel. Chose the fastest route in the galaxy map.
