FSS shows no rings for ringed planets

I am currently out in the black trying to get back to Explorer's Anchorage to pick up an Artemis suit. So I do a lot of FSS since I always scan every planet. One of my pet projects is to take pictures of Icy Bodies with interesting rings. It took me a while until a realized that FSS did not show any rings for any of the ringed bodies when zoomed in to the body. Currently I am using a backup PC (main one is broken but will get replaced soon), but it does have a 1050i running 1920x1080 in mid graphics quality. And I am pretty sure the same configuration does show rings in Horizon.

Am I a missing something or can somebody confirm this? Not sure whether that is a bug or intentional (hopefully not).

It's not something I noticed in the moment, but now that you mention it I don't recall seeing any rings in FSS either. Seems like a bug.

Yeah, I checked the issue tracker and it is already logged there, so I added my contribution and images for confirmation. Thanks for your response.

If you can find and kill the NPC called Smeagol, you will get your ring back.

I kinda assumed it was a design choice to omit the rings, rather than a bug. (Bad choice if so).

Are there any reqiurements to meet, like throwing him into a volcano?

That does sound like a reasonable requirement.
