We have commanders signing up to be escort pilots. Now all we need is word to spread, a little plug in the weekly news letter for our nice service, maybe fuel rats could plug us too? :)

To register as a recon pilot for now, and be in this founding group

2) Home base/ location you spend most of time. (we need to know where our escorts are for quick sourcing!)

I went to the fuel rat page, and I think I saw something where you can message an entire group of online players, ready to respond.

What if we setup something similar to escort traders or something? What if we started a...Wing for lack of a better term, like fuel rats, where there are hundreds of us online at any one time perhaps, and if a trader is being attacked, we can respond and help, or respond to do an escort etc?

You know? Just for emergent gameplay if you've reached your end game?

Who would be interested in doing this with me?

No. Too many syllables. Can't be bothered to remember it. Get a new name. Or make it something catchy like... I dunno... Nannies....

On a serious note: pursue this and make it happen so that the traders can shut up about being "griefed". Also, I may part time in it after I get bored with being in the bubble again, since I've got to wait until Horizons drops before I can go exploring again.

The great thing about the Fuel Rats is that they have maintained fantastic neutrality. It's the part I respect most about them.

Once you introduce combat as a goal - neutrality gets ejected out of the airlock.

I hope escort services will be implemented soon. Would be a good feeling to protect Trader fleets over long dangeous distances!

I was thinking about the exact same thing when I saw the fuel rats. Would love this to be implemented. Problems I can see though would be instance issues and response times. Oh and that little issue with the title, that needs a lot of work!

You could probably manage those issues with simple rules of engagement.

The "job" would not be to wade in somewhere and start shooting... rather, to protect player ship X as it travels to dock at station Y. If nobody bothers you or the "customer", there's nothing beyond it being a simple escort.

I thought this was self explanatory as the verb "Escort" was used in lieu of "Rescue" honestly, but I guess it needed to be explained.

Well the main question is how do you handle background checks? I can see a pirate using this to find delicious traders. Would we deal out punishments to those who go astray? I would love to be a part of something like this. I was thinking L.I.S.T. Escort Service (League of InterStellar Transport Escort Service)? Lol. I don't know...

It's a one shot deal for the pirate? You'll eventually run out of pirates.

Well we could vet a few people to start with. Do it in the bubble. Too bad the game doesn't have better grouping and in game chat mechanics that people have to use irc.

Btw, the name was a throw out, not serious about it, the name doesn't matter, the goal does.

Now that the AI is giving traders a run for their money, they might be interested in escorts, and might be forced to use open, to get those escorts.

I'm willing to start the venture with people. Nothing ventured nothing gained if no one asks for an escort. We merely have to drop what we're doing if someone does and we're close enough, which is why the more the merrier, and we could start in a hub area while our numbers are small.

Someone would need to setup the IRC interface through the web.

Yep. I'm waiting for Horizons to drop before getting my teeth into some serious exploration again... CGs seem to be taking my focus right now, but I'd be glad to be a 'gun on hand' to escort any traders. I'm usually in the game 2-4hrs a day, longer at weekends. Though it's Australian time, so may not be convenient for all.

IRC? What is this 1995? Grab a Teamspeak Server, it'll actually get the job done.
