Newcomer / Intro Fuel scoop tips?

Hi everyone!

Does anyone have any tips on using the fuel scoop? I always seem to over heat and take damage. Even when flying away from the sun my heat still sometimes goes up? Do you have to be in supercruise to scoop?

You're trying to scoop in normal cruise? That'd be your problem. Supercruise my friend. turn away from the sun if your heat gets more than say 135% (depending on what you're flying and how fast it goes this may want to be lower) and don't get too close. I find in my eagle with the basic scoop (which maxes out at 18 per second) If I keep my distance far enough that I scoop at about 10 then my heat doesn't increase.

You have to be in supercruise. There are two ways to scoop: you can face the star, slowly get to the spot where your heat is around 100% and park there (zero throttle) - it's a slower way, but you don't overheat; a faster way is to line up with "horizon" of the star and keep moving around it, but you will overheat while doing it, so it might require a few passes with cooldown time in between.
