Fuel scooping from a class B star should not work.

AFAIK the fuel scoop works in such a way that it scoops the hydrogen while the ship is in the stars corona. So far so good. But class B stars do not have a corona. I am just curious.

it's true that B class has not a corona, but they have very strong stellar winds that contains H too.
You never actually go in the corona itself too scoop, if you try you get to the body exclusion zone and it's trubles.
You fly just outside the "atmosphere" of the star, scooping H that is ejected.

So main sequence stars that have an enough efficient H fusion can be scooped, including B class.
OFC this is a compromise and fanta-babble since in the real world we can't reach relativistic speeds and beeing that close to any star would probably trasmute anything to ash.
But it's fun and "realistical" enough for the gameplay parameters.

Yep, they have strong winds alright, of about 3,000 km/s. Makes sense what you are saying and you are right. It is a lot of fun.

I just was wondering and I don't want to exaggerate things. This game is already very 'realistic'.

We wish we could fly that fast. But as long as the crocodile part of or brain dominates nothing of this is going to happen any time soon.

Oh btw, I wanted to thank you for the 'COMPLETE GUIDE TO PLANET SOUNDS'. This information is invaluable to my exploring.

Thanks,

Best,

Lorewise, the premise is that you are scooping plasma, not hydrogen. Your fueling plant then encases or encysts it in some form of crystal matrix.

Thus, the reason you can only scoop from main sequence stars is that they are the only ones producing the correct type of plasma. That is also the reason you cannot scoop from the theoretically less dangerous hydrogen gas giants.
