I'm concerned about that "A-level pupils get onto top courses with lower grades" piece.
South Africa did that. We kept lowering the pass requirements to proceed to the next year. The end result is now a pass mark of around 30%. I'm not joking, if you know at least 30% of the work, you pass. It's that bad.
And now government and others are putting pressure on universities to allow those idiots into their courses. Dunno about you, but I don't think I'd want a 30 percenter operating on my heart.
