Fuel Scooping problems in 1.1

It looks like that's an A2 Fues scoop used in the video. The scooping volume is not that great for exactly that reason. A3 would provide 176kg/s.

You're right, I forgot to factor in the grade differences on top of class size. Only the D3 does 100kg/s, not all class 3 scoops.

At least you can deploy the scoop. Mine won't even deploy at all post 1.1. So far I've been sucked into 3 stars trying this. Power is feeding to the scoop, no damage, and the right kind of stars - but no matter where I fly it won't deploy. Will try a few more things and then post a ticket

<EDIT> Now isn't that just typical. Attempt number 4 and it deploys at the first opportunity. lol. Back to exploring...

Maybe the stars weren't suitable? I know that has caught me out a few times when I haven't been paying attention.

Fuel scooping is working fine for me post patch (or was last night. Haven't tried since today's update). I finally upgraded the scoop on my Exploration Cobra from a 2B to a 4A. Expensive bit of kit (just under three mil) but I wish I'd done it ages ago. Can refuel from a 24 LY jump in literally seconds. That is going to make things so much faster.

Nice tactic! Now I'm curious though: does everyone else just cruise at lowest SC speed on top of the star? I go full throttle around the star, upside down with the canopy pointing at the star.
I go at the slowest speed with my rear facing the sun. Helps stop an interdiction, at least from real CMDRs. :)

I'm using an A3 now and it takes about 3 minutes to fill my tank from 1/3rd to full. I may throw a class 6 on if I decide to go full on explorer.

If you face directly away from the star you get little to no fuel at all. The intake starts dropping off rapidly if you're facing more than 90 degrees away from the star's center.

How unlucky to get interdicted whilst overtemp right next to the star !!
A tip i use is to assume the scoop is under the ship so i sit my belly on the star, if an interdiction is likely then i pull back on the stick at zero speed which puts my tail towards the star. Makes an interdiction next to impossible :)
On the scooping, could it be that it stopped when you reached a critical temp ? Seemed to work to start with then stopped ?

Great trick! Have some rep.

Hmm, then I need to check again. I haven't noticed any huge hit to my intake when I have done this....but also I may not be 90 degrees off either. I just pull up some, but thanks for letting me know if it does drop off. Now I will know the answer. lol

My A3 scoop (on the Asp) scoops fine but I have not upgraded to 1.1 ... still sceered to.
.
I rarely ever get interdicted while scooping. ... but I probably do it wrong. I drop out of the jump drive ... never slow down ... just align on the sweet spot ... sometimes top sometime bottom ... roll around the star and gobble fuel. I never let my tank get below 2/3 ~ .. so I don't spend much time scooping at any one time but I scoop some at every star I can.
.
works for me ... that is ... pre-1.1
