Fuel Scoops - Engineering?

Any scope to adding an engineering option to fuel scoops?

There’s actually a good couple of optional effects that could be added such as faster scooping/more power draw or increased range...

Failing an engineering fix, could we not simply have the option of buying more than one fuel scoop for our ships? Just like a combat ship can load up on multiple hull reinforcements/guardian shield boosters...

Frustrated DBX pilot.

Similar to DBX, it’d fix the one gripe i have while exploring in the Courier. Even a 3A scoop needs a flyaround to fill up.

I always thought there should something like a "wide collection mod" to have a larger scoop rate, would be nice in avoiding overheating while retaining scoop speed

The only purpose of fuel scoop is to... scoop. That means there's not much to work with. One can increase its integrity, or increase its scoop rate. Better heat management in the end just results in better scoop rate, so it's redundant. Unless some tweaks can be made...
How about a heavier fuel scoop that can exhaust heat from the ship? Like a fuel scoop modification that turns it into some kind of heat management module?
Or a fuel scoop modification that can refuel at neutron and white dwarf stars tails, and reduce damage from overcharge, at the cost of more power?
Or a fuel scoop that can absorb part of plasma damage and turn it into fuel (XD oh, the new meta)?
Or a fuel scoop that works like a drag anchor too, effectively reducing the drag on a ship, at the cost of more heat?
Need more ideas?

Cheers, mates.

Faster seems logical, but could be overpowered. Maybe just less heat generation? I guess those are both means to the same end. I just think less heat is the thing I suffer from the most when I do have a complaint. My big ships that can have a big one do fine and don't have any issues. It's the small ships like my Courier that can scoop fast enough but gets a heat warning every time.

Indeed. I'm trying an engineered imp.courier for speed lols, and the biggest problem with it is heat. So scooping heat with a 2a is stable only around 35rate, whereas my krait multi-purpose gets a nice 120rate at stable temperature. Would love to have a scoop modified for heat exhaustion there. XD

Do helium densities vary with star classes & would this affect scoop rate?
It definitely affects ship's heat. Some red dwarf stars release more heat on proximity than the huge blue giants when scooping. It seems that scoop heat results from the abundance of Helium on the corona. Also, don't forget to deactivate the fuel scoop if you drop into a star's proximity by accident. Low waking away from it will be easier with the fuel scoop off.

I'd be all for a engineering mod that gives an increased scoop rate equivalent to the next higher class of scoop. An additional or experimental benefit of lighter weight to this mod, would be nice too.

Hmm, what are the relevant variables we could play with? Scoop speed, heat generation, power use, module durability...

Well for some reason I don't think this forum has an easy way to find my old posts, but I once posted a suggestion about engineering fuel scoops that would address something I found sad: fuel scooping doesn't require any movement to be 100% effective. Short version is that I proposed blueprints that would reward flying closer or faster but punish sitting still. I thought of it because when I first learned how to scoop, I (incorrectly) presumed that scoop speed was affected by my orbit and speed around the star. I would like to make that an actual mechanic in the game.
