Fuel transfer

Might be a silly question, but is there any way to transfer hydrogen fuel from cargo to engine while out in space?

not in the current build, if you run out of fuel right now the only 2 options are to either use the distress beacon and pay through the nose for an NPC to refill you, or self destruct.

i'm not sure this will be possible in the final game, you would need to check the relevant topic in the DDA, I've had a look and can't see cargo to tank mentioned.

I'm sure it was specifically mentioned in the DDF discussions as not being possible, by intention. Sorry, no ref, but it should be in the archives.

I comfirm that, there is a post by the developer that such will not be possible in future release as it makes the explorer class of ship worthless (or some other ship), probably due to one class of ship having the "special" ability to hold more fuel than other classes.

I agree with the devs on this.

Being able to transfer the fuel from cargo/cargo containers to the engine's fuel tank and reserve tank would be near impossible without loading refueling equipment onboard, which would in turn increase fuel consumption due to increased mass.

Not to mention the fact that the pilots aren't properly suited for taking a jog outside the craft and popping open canisters of fuel and pumping it into the tank. Time required as well as equipment would bypass the 10 minute oxygen reserves of the suit.

I could be spouting stupidity, but... meh.

I don't suppose you could use that distress beacon to lure unsuspecting victims to their end? Not very ethical but then if you've committed to a life of piracy you wouldn't care!!

It has been suggested numerous times, of cause I wouldn't dream of doing something like that, ;)
