Engineers Fujin Tea is just grind... why?

What is the point of this unlock requirement Frontier? 50 units of tea... it sells in lots of 5 and only at max quantity of 10.

Why? why are you wasting my time with this? Does any one out there enjoy carrying 10 units of stuff 5 times? This is no challenge, there is no way of being clever with this. Just a waste of time.

Why not make me do something more interesting? Make me do something that adds to my overall game as opposed to waste my valuable gaming/unwinding time?

Some of these Engineer unlock tasks feel like a slap in a face...[sour]

Here's an idea. Just require 1 unit of the rare commodity. You still point new players to the rare commodity mechanic (if that's your intention) but without the .

Yeah, the rares deliveries are the worst of the engineer unlock mechanics as far as I'm concerned. They would be fine if you could buy enough of the goods to make it in one trip, the way you can with the engineers who want gold and landmines. But having to make 5-10 trips no matter what just feels annoyingly arbitrary.

I guess you could bring a cargo ship and make trade runs along with the rares, BGS permitting. But personally I just bought 5, alt-tabbed for 15 minutes, bought 5 more, made a round trip, then repeated four more times.

Just ask a couple of friends to load you up, Teabagger style.
Beware: there may be CTDs in the process (a bug presumably introduced in 2.2.03, it's under investigation).

You can learn here at this stage something about bgs states. Wait until Fujin is in Boom and you will see, you only need to fly 3 times :D

^^ Yea, this. Or even better, OP, help them to the Boom state. You don't have to grind boringly. Be useful, instead. ;)
You can donate, run missions and trade. Make money while waiting, plus rare traders will be grateful as well!

Oh, but there are clever ways to do this.

Boom state, as Lucius has said, and there's one or two more.

I'm not one to flame people and usually just go onto the next post when someone starts a negative thread or flame bait.
So, do not take this as critisism...

If you are in a hurry to do something or get somewhere (like starting in a sidewinder and cannot wait until you get one of "the big 3 ships") ... then, yeah this game is a grind and if you are not willing to grind, this aint the game for you.

As Chris Simon says, go do something else whilst you grind and make some extra money...that's clever...believe me, it all comes to you, be it Modular Terminals, Exquisite Focus Crystals, Modified Embedded Firmware, and the rest...all whilst you simply "play the game".

So, don't focus on getting somewhere fast...focus on enjoying the game ... by playing it with NOT ONE aim, but with many.

Works for me.

P.S. Fujin Tea? Pfft.
You obviously haven't tried to unlock Palin (5kly journey), Selene (mine 500T) or Bris Dekker (10 million combat bonds)!

I stripped out my mods/weapons and replaced the vital core internals with lightest replacements possible on my Conda (apart from the G5 6A FSD). Managed to get range up to 46ly which amounted to 4 jumps from Fujin to Muang. Just about bearable IMO. Took about 2 hours. If you have the cash just pay to have your mods/weapons transferred to Muang so you can put them back on when you finish the run.

if you had a extra player/accnt you could use the other ship to pick up and retrieve and go back for more.
more people helping you out the faster it will get completed... doesnt have to be a grind at all... if you have people willing to help you out

I enjoyed that particular bit. Gave me a good excuse to do up a hauler. Mind you I'm not a fan of engineers in general. They're an (un)nessessary evil when you play in open.

No, no, no! This almost sounds like the solution of a problem! We don't have those in ED!

Go about game business as normal.
When nearby to Fujin and maybe also headed to near Muang, drop in to Fujin and buy the tea, then sell in Muang.
This is what I did.
Didn't feel so bad...

If that's all you do, yes it will be tedious. So grab 5 units of tea and a couple of missions. You are allowed too you know.

This above. Don't grind it out ASAP. Take your time and it will be a much more enjoyable experience.
