Lol, just ran into this one :D

My first compact binary neutron / white dwarf system. The dwarf was almost stationary, the neutron star was on ritalin.

...now where were my undies?

When I first dropped into a system and saw one of those, I had no idea what they were. I got too close, crashed out of supercruise and started to overheat. I'd installed heatsinks in my new Asp, but I'd never deployed one before. I thought, "oh this is what those are for" and fired one off while charging my FSD. After high-waking out I felt pretty pleased with myself for handling a totally unexpected situation so well - not like me at all.

Great pictures guys.

For the new explorers whenever you enter into hyperspace to the next system immediately set your throttle to zero. Then when you come upon a newtron star you won't get burned up trying to figure what is going on. If a player has the experience they can maneuver within the newtron star to greatly increase their FSD jump range for the next jump. It is a necessity for those traveling across the galaxy. But that is another topic. Look it up.

Regards

Did these replace the tiny neutron stars? Those were really scary because you could hardly see them.

Indeed. A couple of versions ago in the Mac version of the game, jumping into a neutron star system for me was like "hey, where's the star?" followed by a rough drop out of supercruise. The new version is much more alarming but easier to react to.
