Fun Ideas: Pilot Killer

Seeing as some of the nicest “reads” we get on the forums are pure wishful thinking and unrealizable theory-crafting, I thought I’d contribute my two-penn’orth in the hopes of galvanizing other, bigger-brained contributors than myself, and seeing what they might come up with.
We’re excited and full of speculation about Odyssey- wondering just what we’ll get in planetary and mission terms. Many like the idea of space walking and on-the-fly ship repairs.
Although we’re pretty certain to be disappointed, it doesn’t hurt to speculate or dream, and there’s always the possibility that FDEV are watching.
I was thinking about piratical activities (which is ironic as I’m fearfully poor at anything vaguely resembling combat), and wondered about a specific weapons module which, if perfectly targeted, could insta-slay the opponent but leave their ship intact.
It would only be usable once their shields were down, and hull down to, say 50%. Or we could make the canopy targetable and weaken that first (or is it already??). Anyway, after reaching those criteria you’d have to pull off a “shot in a million” with your sniping module and blow the pilot away. They’d reappear at the closest station at which they had a ship.
Meanwhile (and you’ll hate this), you could exit your ship, and board theirs. Possibly a mini game in itself? There you’d have the choice to either commandeer their vessel and abandon yours, or jettison and collect, say 3, 4, or 5 (whatever) of their choicest modules. These would be “collected” as cargo and show up next time you outfit your ship. The opponent would permanently lose them.
I realize this is stupid and full of holes, and fully expect to have my precious peaches handed to me on a bromellite platter.
Anyway, answers on a postcard please. There’ll be a slightly rancid fish supper for the first ten entries out of the hat.
