Ship Builds & Load Outs Fun Multi-Crew Setup

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to this game (started playing the day 2.3 came out) and I really love the idea of multi-crew. I tried it a few times but always had trouble getting the right gear to have fun (turrets and all that stuff). After I bought a Vulture I realized I can't really use it for multi-crew as a turret (of the recommended weaponry) is costing me ~20kk (which is more than the whole ship cost). So maybe some of you have great multi-crew setups which are not that utterly expensive.

I would love to hear your opinions about good outfitting for multi-crew activities, seems to me as this does not get very much attention here in the forums.
I'm all in to try multi-crew bountyhunting but I'd also go for other activities (as long as it give some money for both/all players).

Do you have a suggestions for a good but relatively cheap ship + gear?

I'm currently at around 40kk (but +/- 10kk should be no problem), lvl 4 Federal, lvl 2 Imperial - so sadly no fancy clipper for me yet.
I thought about a Dropship as it has mostly medium slots (medium turrets + large gimbal sounds like some fun), but I don't know, read a lot pro and con opinions about that ship.

Tried MC in the 2.3 beta with my Fed Gunship I had a commander in one of the ship launched fighters and it's rather good fun, the only issue I see is that the turret position probably isn't a lot of fun long term compared to a fighter, however a decent FGS is probably outside your budget at around 70 mil.

None of the Fed ships have great shields they rely more on their armour for protection until the shield rebuilds so a fast regen shield like a bi-weave is the usual fit.

Here's the MC build I was using, turrets for a commander and a fighter as well + NPC crew in the second fighter

A lower cost version

Until you get the cash why don't you try a Keelback it's not MC compatible but you can hire NPC crew for the fighter and try different weapons and tactics

The FDS is a great ship for not much cash but even engineered it's not going to be all that fast or agile

If you like the Vulture how about the FAS it has similar agility and less power issues and with 4 hardpoints you can have a wider choice of weapons

Thanks a lot for the pointers and suggestions Ceekay!

I like the idea of the FGS setup, however I guess it will take quite a while to get me up the Federation ranks to gain access to that thing ;-).

I'm explicitly looking for a MC setup, so the Keelback is sadly no option, even though I may look at it to see how a ship with a fighter plays out.
However the other two setups seem to be within my (more or less immediate) reach.

Thanks a lot for the setups! You planned them with 1 turret / 2 turrets (1x pulse / 2x pulse). Did you try them in MC? Is it fun (and useful?) for the gunner to only control one weapon?
As I'm just looking for some fun in coop so PvE is completely feasible and I can also start slow by smashing small ships :)

Any other recommended setups (maybe aside from the federal ships)?

You well on the way to Ensign (http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Federation/Ranks) so I'd suggest ranking up and building up cash for an FGS, I personally wouldn't be that interested being a gunner on a FAS or FDS but flying a fighter is huge fun but it's risky letting the NPC crew man the mothership unless they're at least Expert so I see the fighter role as a big attraction in MC.

As to turrets, on an FGS with 7 hardpoints you can live with the DPS drop that turrets have but not so much on the FAS or FDS no more than one on the FAS or two on the FDS, with it's six hardpoints the Asp X might be worth checking out (20% discount in Alioth if you've got the permit) but it does need to be engineered a lot IMO.

If you can stretch to 70 mil a Python (heavily engineered!) is an option, even in my hands ;) it's capable of taking down an Elite conda + fighter one on one with only a bit of hull damage (and 120 tons of cargo)

Roughly this build

Thank you for the clarification and again for the hints :)

I will go ahead and get the Python, I should be able to do this relatively easy as I just need money and no reputation.
Meanwhile I'll do some missions to gain ranks and more money to be able to buy the FGS in the end which seems to be a very good choice for MC (but this will certainly take quite a while, the rank progression > lvl4 is super slow for my amount of playtime). Thanks!

I'd really like to hear other suggestions (from other people?). What are you guys doing with MC? Is someone using this at all in the current state?
