[Fun Request] Cash Injection Please

Hay Developers

How about being really, really nice? We all know, and accept, that you've been busy with E3 this week, and from what I've read and watched it's been very worth while.

I guess that some of this new content I've been hearing about will be release sometime soon. Maybe, maybe not. But how about you give us another cash injection so those new with P-Beta can have a play with the bigger, badder ships?

Many thanks if you do, not quite so many if you don't. :)

Seconded with caveats

I second this motion but perhaps not right now. Same as last time, just before a reset would be best. Otherwise we will have chaos with 1000 Lakons docking (or not) at once and canisters everywhere for ages.

People are already complaining that the economies are broken due to too many players for the system. Imagine what 15000 players in Lakons would do:eek:

You are only going to see at most 31 and I'm not even sure that's possible with the current build. But they would destroy the economies of all the worlds quite quickly I expect. :)

Why only 31? Is that the limit of players to an instant?

It would be best to postpone such a reward until there are more places to buy/sell stuff in. When the galaxy opens up however...

Pretty please?

I was kinda hinting that it should be done just before a reset, but didn't want to put too many restrictive thoughts into the devs' heads. :) This is meant to be a infinite possibilities game after all.

I would rather see it before they open up more more systems just to have a play and get it out of my system. When new systems become available we ought to be doing more realistic trade testing.

P.S. Loved the Shrek pic.

It's 32 so you and 31 other players. That is something they are aiming for but I don't think that has ever been achieved and perhaps not even possible in the current build. Anyone care to clarify or confirm?

Obviously its broken because its not a feature complete game yet so there are bound to be issues some small and probably quite a lot big. I wish people would stop complaining and realise that they are not playing a complete game yet but a test build. I don't think we will get a near complete game until sometime well into the regular beta.

I might be wrong but I'm sure I read that the limit in each instance will be 32.

Conversely, if you don't ask, you don't get....

I've always gone by that rule. Better to put the idea into someones head than to be the only one thinking of an idea.

I also think it would be a good idea. The 10,000 new players have been stress testing the Alpha code for two weeks now, and things are being to get repetitive with so many people in such a small space.

I know that we need to stress test the code, and this was a good plan on FD's part, it was completely sensible to do it this way. Take a good build and then just throw more testers at it.

But looking at the comments about the trading being flat, it is. Where is the incentive to grid away building up a war chest when the next wipe could be only days away? As a new P-Beta I have no idea what the update, wipe cycle is going to be. For that matter does anyone? So I've turned my attention to combat. I need to improve my skills in this area but I'm not sure what the value add for FD is.

But give us the cash to go out and buy a bigger ships and more people will trade or at least fly station to station to learn how to dock the those ships. The still seams to be problems server side when coming out of SC some exits take ages. I'm assume that server code role out is more frequent than client.

If folks really want to try out bigger ships why are they asking for a 'Cash Injection'

If you want to try bigger ships ask for them then, trading is fried as it is anyway.

Because a cash injections helps everyone equally and gives more choice. Its also easy to do the database update:

I don’t know the coding that would be needed but the last injection was 1.5M and that went way south so that much is not going to happen. So that leaves the only ‘other’ ships as the Eagle and Cobra.

Seems to me that there are Eagles and Cobras all over the place now.

Trading is ‘trashed’ so until we get a bunch of more systems or more types of ships and/or a reset I don’t see as to much more help in testing.

I am not going to write a book here – however unless just a bug fix is released we are going to need (wild guess) a hundred (100) or more systems to test trade more along with supply and demand to keep trade going.

If folks just want to shoot each other that is already in place till more ships or weapons/add-on's are released.

Just my 2 cents on this.

I'm interested as to why that when south. As an outside observer at the time I just saw the new vids by Scott Manly, Kerrash and other flying the new ships. That got me interested enough to sign up for the P-Beta. If I'm not alone then that was a win for FD - more Beta testers and more development cash.

The code to insert the extra cash I would have thought would just be a simple SQL statement. True, some times there are gotchas with SQL on a live system, but we all learn with time. This is, of course, assuming that there is a relational database behind this game.
