I use voice attack with the Orion voice pack in ED voiced by none other than William Shatner. It’s pretty good and I have been using it for quite a while customising it and adding new voice commands etc. As a matter of fact without it know I have a damn difficult time raising and lowering things and running the day to day tasks on the ship.
But last night, the funniest thing happened, that caught me totally by surprise....
I was mining away in an asteroid field in my new Anaconda and a mate wanted to catch up in game and see the ship. I was using VR, so we had a voice chat as I can't type blind.
Although the voice attack software is pretty good at ignoring conversations, every now and then Orion would interpret part of my conversation with my mate and try and execute a command that I didn't want. Sometimes it was funny, other times dangerous.
Anyway, at one point after Orion tried to launch my scarab in space, I told Orion to shut up and stop listening. I am not sure if it was that or something I said just before that, but I start to hear some humming in the background... not the electrical kind of humming, but someone humming a tune. I asked my mate "is that you humming"? .. He replies..."um no".
Then Orion starts singing "Fly me to the moon"... finally a full blown brass band kicks in. It was hilarious. I had tears in my eyes (which is a pain when you have a VR unit on).
Gotta love these moments.
