Future dlcs by biomes. Your thoughts

Hey everybody
Today I wanted to talk about the dlc pattern we have seen lately.
It seems biome dlcs are likely going to continue. Or we have unexpected names and themes such as twilight and conservation.
Do you want to continue this trend?
Arctic= Tundra
Wetlands = semi aquatic
Grasslands = duh
Tropical = duh
Would you want a taiga, temperate, desert and would you also accept 1 of those 3 as a build pack considering we are likely getting an animal, build and then animal.

Here’s my thoughts
Taiga
  1. Coastal mountain goat
  2. Andean Bear
  3. Golden takin
  4. Markhor
  5. Gelada
  6. Bighorn sheep
  7. European Hare
  8. Koi/carp
Desert
  1. Golden jackal
  2. Collared peccary
  3. Roadrunner
  4. Rhea
  5. Hamadryas baboon
  6. Sand cat
  7. Blackbuck
  8. Song birds set of 5
Temperate
  1. American black bear
  2. Wisent
  3. Tasmanian devil
  4. Tanuki
  5. Lyre bird
  6. Kiwi
  7. Roosevelt elk
  8. Hummingbirds even Moon walk down the step there like he didn’t even take
Now also to take into consideration, there should be at least 1 build dlc. Idc which biome is picked as a build but I would imagine: since SEA was an animal pack, tropical used SEA themed build, maybe the build will be something North American themed.
Or would you rather a different common ground for dlcs in the future?

I could Imagine that all animal Packs could be named something Like "-lands" whereas the Scenery Pack has other names. At least this is the actual pattern since last year. Let us see what a Potential Summer DLC.

But I could Imagine:
Woodlands
Drylands/Shrublands
Highlands
Islands
Coldlands (bit strange Name but I also could imagine somehow a Taiga/Tundra or just cold biome based Scenery Pack)

I am at the Moment a bit lazy for animals but one thing I want to mention. The Gelada lives in Ethopia. Even when it lives within the Highlands it surely does not fit into a Taiga pack as Taiga is defined as coniferous forest which you can find in Northern Europe, Asia and North America. It would work in something Like a Highlands Pack and when I think a bit more about it I would say nearly your whole Taiga Pack animals are more Highland Pack animals but I really doubt we will get 3 goats and 1 Sheep together in one single Pack 😃.

Alpine habitats are lumped under the taiga biome in-game, hence why the llama is considered a taiga animal despite not living in boreal coniferous forests. However, I agree that for the purposes of marketing, including montane animals in a "Taiga Pack" doesn't really make sense, so perhaps the pack would need to be named something else that encompasses both alpine areas and boreal forests.

At this point I don't need more scenery. And I don't need special "themes" for the dlcs. Now that the fossa is gone the islands pack idea is a lot less enticing.
Easier said than done, but I hope Frontier just focuses on the areas that still need representation.

I don't need a theme like "islands dlc" "desert dlc" or "mountain dlc" because those areas don't need representation the most.

South America and Oceania are the least represented areas.
Followed by non-tropical Asia (Himalayas, Far East, Central Asia still have a lot of choices).
And Africa is the most represented area, but still has the most animals on the meta-wishlist.

And of course Aviaries and Aquarium dlcs above all else.

Here are my animal pack ideas

Islands Animal Pack:
  1. Tasmanian Devil
  2. North Island Brown Kiwi
  3. Coquerel's Sifaka
  4. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
  5. Lowland Anoa
  6. Pacific Walrus
  7. Rockhopper Penguin or American Flamingo
  8. Rainbow Lorikeet, Black Capped Lory, Red Lory, Dusky Lory, Blue Streaked Lory
Highlands Animal Pack:
  1. Wolverine
  2. Andean Bear
  3. Gelada
  4. Sichuan Takin
  5. Markhor
  6. Pallas's Cat
  7. Rock Hyrax
  8. Chinese Giant Salamander
Deserts/Drylands Animal Pack: I didn't include Dromedary Camel as it could be added in an anniversary update.
  1. Hamadryas Baboon
  2. African Wild Donkey
  3. Honey Badger
  4. Cape Porcupine
  5. Addax
  6. Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby
  7. Collared Peccary
  8. Thorny Devil Lizard
Woodlands Animal Pack:
  1. Red Squirrel
  2. European Pine Marten
  3. Sloth Bear
  4. Gaur
  5. Vervet Monkey
  6. Tanuki
  7. Western Capercaillie
  8. Squirrel Glider
Rainforest Animal Pack: Despite the Tropical Pack that recently released, there are still 'countless' animals that live in rainforests that are highly requested.
  1. Black Howler Monkey
  2. South American Coati
  3. Geoffroy's Spider Monkey
  4. Mantled Guereza
  5. Ocelot
  6. False Gharial
  7. Southern Tamandua
  8. Blue and Yellow Macaw, Scarlet Macaw, Red and Green Macaw, Military Macaw and Hyacinth Macaw

I’m afraid we just get aquariums and bird cages still, I’d rather see endless packs like they already given.

Next should be mountains

taiga, temperate, desert could all bring some great additions. If we just stuck to these as the remaining three packs coming (this year and all time), it definitely would leave out a lot of requested animals simply because they would not fit in these biomes.

But...for the sake of the thread's topic:

Temperate(Woodlands):
Tasmanian Devil
Kiwi (any species)
North American Porcupine (if we're not getting an Old World I'd at least want a species somewhere!!)
Wild Boar
Mute Swan
American Black Bear
Eurasian Otter
(Non)Walkthrough Exhibit: Pileated woodpecker

Taiga(Highlands): - Scenery Pack with Tudar/Bavarian theme
Wolverine
Snowshoe Hare
Spectacled Bear
Canadian Lynx
(Non)Walkthrough Exhibit: Bald Eagle

Desert(Drylands): - Some of these don't fit "exactly" into the desert biome, but they would still be considered "dyr climate" animals
Dromedary
Golden Jackal
Sand Cat
Secretary Bird
Collard Peccary
African Wild "Donkey"
Honey Badger*
Exhibit: Egyptian Cobra

*- If the Crested or Cape porcupine would be considered drylands close enough to desert, I would gladly switch the honeybadger out for it.

This almost definitely would not happen, but I would hope/pray/pay/whatever for getting Macaws for the Anniversary animal. UGH we need them so bad.

Sigh. This does absolutely squat for New World Monkeys, and any other tropical/rainforest animals because the Tropical pack should have been an animal pack. that's the hill I'm choosing to plant my feet on. Huge missed opportunity. I am sorry my Tree Kangaroo/Brazilian Porcupine/Bear Cuscus/Shoebill/Toucan/Coatimundi friends. 😭

In a perfect world I'd want them to go back to area based packs. Such as a patagonia pack or Oceania animal pack. They probably won't but it's not impossible. About biome packs though. To finish off this year I could see these 3,

Drylands animal pack - African focus with things like baboon and Porcupine as well as a peccary.

Alpine pack - Asia focus with the Pallas cat and takin being added. Himalayan building theme.

Woodlands pack - Oceania focus adding the Tasmanian devil and possum. Could also add a markor, Wolverine and our first duck.

Specifically didn't put Dromedary for the drylands pack as I want it as Anniversary animal considering the existing pieces.

Semi-overlapping, since I don't think we need (for instance) both the baboon and gelada.

Drylands Animal Pack:
Dromedary camel
Collared peccary
Ratel
African crested porcupine
Patagonian mara
Hamadryas baboon
Sulcata tortoise
Budgerigar (walkthrough exhibit)

Highlands Animal Pack:
Sichuan takin
Markhor
Gelada
Pallas' cat
Wolverine
Himalayan monal
Bar-headed goose
Kea (walkthrough exhibit)

Coasts & Islands Animal Pack:
Tasmanian devil
Celebes crested macaque
Pacific walrus
American flamingo
Little blue penguin
North Island brown kiwi
Great white pelican
Tuatara (exhibit)

Woodlands Animal Pack:
American black bear
North American river otter
Wild boar
Reeve's muntjac
Wisent
Mandarin duck
Golden pheasant
Laughing kookaburra (walkthrough exhibit)

I never really found the "-lands theory" all that convincing to be honest. I mean im sure well get more biome based DLCs in the future, but something like Drylands,Coldlands and even highlands sounds a bit uncomfortable and too forced to me.
I think each one has a good chance of becoming a real pack sometime just being called Desert, tundra and mountain respectively.

A tundra pack especially is something i find very interesting because its rarely talked about, but could be really cool as its able to tie a few popular animals together. Frankly its pretty similar to the artic pack but oh well.

My take on a Tundra animal pack:
-Musk ox
-Wolverine
-Walrus
-Puffin
-Snow hare
-Adelie penguin
-Snowy owl (e) ?

These are great choices and I think would really finish up the tundra zone very nicely. I'd probably feel the need to change out the Puffin to Canadian Lynx but wouldn't be unhappy with the puffin. I think the Arctic Pack represents the Tundra biome but not as deeply as anyone would have hoped, with one really critical addition (that then became a major pain in franchise), one animal that was really way too similar to a base game animal, and then two ungulates that while in different families still managed to feel very similar. Since then we've really only gotten the arctic fox and moose to expand on the tundra.

Finally, another person wants an Oceania dlc. I honestly just way prefer that Idea over islands

I expect three DLCs for this year and assume that these will be the last ones (even when I hope for a lot more). I hope for something like this:

Drylands/shrublands animal pack
  • Indian porcupine
  • Dromedary
  • Radiated tortoise
  • Patagonian mara
  • White-nosed coati
  • Chacoan peccary
  • Short-beaked echidna/ greater bilby
  • Weaver aviary

Mountain pack
  • Golden Takin
  • Himalayan monal
  • Spectacled bear
  • Gelada
  • Kea
As the theme I could definitley see some Tibetian/Nepal/Buthan inspired theme pieces

Forest animal pack
  • Geoffroy's spider monkey
  • North American/Brazilian tree porcupine
  • Tree kangaroo
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Mantled colobus
  • Mandarin duck
  • Reeves muntjac
  • Wild boar
  • Wolverine
  • Macaws
  • Keel-billed toucan
I just added two species more, as there was also something more on the last pack for PlanCo.

I really tried to stay as general as possible, but there are still a lot of species which didn't really fit into any the packs (pelican, swans) or needed to be left out due to the slot limitations.
