1. If you vote "I vote instant ship transfers only" you are saying that you prefer the currently describe instant ship transfer which may never lead to future content or gameplay. You'll get your ship transferred to you at your shipyard location but likely nothing else. Cost will be per ship and likely distance related. The more costly your ships and the further apart the greater the costs.

2. If you vote "I vote for a ship lease and fleet management system" the player gets an "identical ship" instantly but FD reserves the right to limit lease locations and ships/mods by location or through the BGS. This can lead to future gameplay and content as the lease facility could provide missions to deliver ships or create mods. The fleet management feature would add NPC or bulk haulage of your fleet at normal delivery speed for much lower cost.

During the long discussions and heated arguments over instant ship transfer a few things came to mind and possibly a few conclusions. I'm not intending to retread the arguments here but I would like to ask a different and very direct question about ships and the ability to manage them in game. It will require a little setup and I will post a short 2 question poll regarding the options.

1. I think we all know that the vast majority of players would like some kind of workable ship transfers.
2. Some players would like to be able to send the ships ahead.
3. Some players would like to have them summoned.
4. Some players would like the immediacy of instant transfer.
5. Some players are concerned about instant transfers being game-breaking or exploitable.
6. Some players don't like the explanations given so far from FD for the instant ship mechanism as being lore or immersion breaking.

You, yourself, may hold 1 or more of these views or even other views that I have not touched on.

So, my question really comes down to whether a compromise is possible. I think it is but that doesn't mean that any compromise can or should be made by FD; I just want to ask the community and see if it is possible given an idea that I think could make both sides at least come closer to the middle.

If we have two choices, instant ship transfer as currently described and an alternative that could provide the same benefits plus more future benefits later should FD wish to implement them, which would you choose? When I post the poll I'll summarize the questions at the top of the post but here I'll describe what I see as the problem with the described solution:

1. Instant ship transfer is intended to let a player summon a ship instantly to their current location from a remote location.
2. It does not allow you to send a ship ahead or move one or more ships from one location to another from a third location.
3. It does not provide added gameplay as it is a simple QoL measure.
4. If there are exploits found, FD is left with only cost and distance limits to control exploits.
5. The currently described explanation is lacking in that you must concede that a perfect replica of a used ship is created at one location and the original dismantled.

My solution, while not perfect, would be to replace the idea of an instant ship transfer with the more plausible ship lease now and a future full ship management facility in-game.
