Future ship sizes? Small, medium, large or Super size?

Panther Clipper. Great big beast of an over powered gunship with 2000t of cargo capacity.
Otherwise more at every level, for every role, for Alliance, Empire and Federation. More ships gives us more variety and that's always good for me.

I want a Panther ....... 2000t a nice economic weapon too
ive nothing else to spend my credits on at the moment!
or let us strap 2 'vettes together to make a pair of iron slippers

I would like to see a vertical profile ship. They could still fit thru the mail slot, it wouldn't be entering sideways to them if the mail slot is also viewed vertically. Just gotta figure out how to land them.

The Panther Clipper would, in my opinion, not be able to land on larger landing pads. I'm thinking that FD should implement a type of outpost and retrofit the existing mega ships with a huge landing pad.

Maybe I'm just being greedy but, rather than just more ships, what I want is a better choice of ships.

When I want to go exploring I want alternatives to the AspX. When I go into combat I want alternatives to the Vulture and when I go trading I want alternatives to the Python. Etc.

FDev have done a great job of producing a diverse range of ships but they've almost done too good a job because they seem to have created a situation where there's always an obvious choice of ship for a given role.

OK not quite ships but what about some more planet side vehicles? We currently only have the SRV...

They could introduce a large SRV to compliment multi crew. Drive and two gunners which could be customised for other specialist operations.

I'm also missing some more medium-heavy ships. Not medium-light; those are more or less covered. Something along the lines of the Python, with medium landing pad capability.

I'd also like some more options on large ships. We currently have a middle of the road multirole ship, a slow-and-nimble combat ship, and a fast-and-sluggish trader. There are many more posibilities on that front. I'd like a real turret-centric trader ship, with many small and medium hardpoints.

Dual shield generators on big ships would be really fun, too. One for the front arc, one for the rear. I know that's not part of elite lore, but would add some more depth to big ship combat.

Meh the medium ships currently are all too good at what they do generally. Other than the Federal Dropship and Type-6.

Problem is though it feels like we already have too many ships. All the niches are filled in one ship that does it very well generally and 1 or 2 more that do it well. And that is just in the medium size category.

They need to introduce more hard slots for ships for their specific role to help define more ships and create more niches to fill. As of right now FD is better off just adjusting over performing ships and under performing ships.

Whatever we do get from Frontier.. I really hope they ditch the 1980's wedge design aesthetic. It was cute and all when you were limited to a certain number of poly's or wire frames but it's time to grow out of that phase and get some of the ship designs we've seen from the concept art. Ships that were actually aesthetically pleasing.

small to medium ships would be great to see. I want to see that little shuttle or simple people mover ships. They would be cheep to buy and could be good for low payed missions within a system, transporting people from an orbital station down to the surface. A perfect mission for a new player to start with.

Ok what about that Star Trek ship that splits into three parts?

It would be perfect for 3 player multi play :D

The Prometheus-class Deep space tactical ship...

I would like medium sized federal and imperial counterparts to the fdl. The 2 superpowers should have a dedicated military combat vessel. The imperial one in my dreams allows for the apa and imperial hammer to be centerline mounted with a medium hardpoint built into the nose that is really only useful for fixed or missles. A large centerlined on the top for the APA. a huge on the bottom for your main weapon of choice and then if its not asking to much 2 small hardpoints for whatever.
