Are the developers planning on introducing ingame voice chat for bigger immersion and squads?
It's like the only thing missing for me for this game to be perfect, I want to be able to form 2-3 man squads and speak with people via ingame voice chat.

wings (a more robust grouping dynamic) is coming soon (hopefully in the next month or two). which should make teaming and such a lot easier and fun.

As Flint says its coming. "Wings" expansion will add grouping and shared rewards for killing wanteds and perhaps for doing missions together. Hopefully some escorting possible as well where the escorted can somehow pay the escorters. I thought when you drop off your haul you can move a percent slider where the percentage go to those who are grouped with you. That way you cant just transfer cash freely which would draw in cash for gold people. We will see, but yes its coming. Supposedly first quarter 2015. The VOIP we already have might expand to all in group by then also.

Aye and it has some nice atmospheric radio clicks and interference which increases based on the ship status. One of the most underrated features. Perhaps if/when the voice chat is less "one to one" then it will get more use by the players.

Can anyone link anything official about this wings update?

Also the in game voice chat is pretty cool.
