Hardware & Technical G-Sync monitors. Are they worth it?

I've been looking at getting an IPS monitor, because they apparently look better than standard, and have more accurate colors than the standard LED monitors. I've been seeing the adaptive sync technology advertised. AMD has the Freesync technology, and NVIDIA has G-Sync. But the G-sync monitors are about twice as much as Freesync monitors with similar specs. Since I have an Nvidia card, I'd need a G-Sync monitor, if I want a monitor with adaptive sync. Are the adaptive sync monitors worth it (considering how pricey G-Sync monitors are)?

For me it was a toss-up between a G-Sync one or a 144hz one for 3D gaming.

Eventually I bought a 144hz one for 3D instead :)

Before I got this monitor I was using a bog-standard 60hz monitor, and in the nvidia control panel I had V-Sync set to "FAST". Never saw any tearing even with high fps like over 300 in some games. I had set V-Sync to OFF in every game. "Adaptive" isn't as good as "Fast" setting though, still see some tearing on and off. So I don't know if the monitor version will be any better.

I have a dell 27" gsync.
The image quality really is very good (once calibrated) and the sync does work. For all that, it's now stupidly expensive and on reflection I can't genuinely recommend it at its price.
i think a better use of the money is a cheaper 24" and a Rift.

I'm currently using AMD+Freesync but I have had NVidia and Gsync.
Both totally worth it in my opinion, although I would seriously begrudge paying the Nvidia tax on a gsync screen again.
But from a gaming perspective, yeah adaptive sync is great. It's not what you can see that makes it worth it, it's what you can't see.
