G4/G5 Manufactured Mats - best way to farm them now?

  • filter galaxy map for states
  • drop at any nav beacon to scan
  • go to supercruise and go for any High Grade USS
-Trade at mat trader

Any type of system/state better than others?
Depends on the mats you want.

click on manufactured, sort after grade/cost and see which USS drops which materials.

  • states don't matter that much, as long they are any other than none and civil liberty in independent systems
  • larger population better (you can filter the galaxy map by population as well, or use a third party site)
  • imperial and federal systems give their own mats in none-states.

Is this really true? HGE (since that's what we're talking about) are timed. So you have to wait for some to go away and others to come in over time right?
at least it is my experience. if you leave the system, rescan by fss and nav beacon, new uss spawn. it might only work, if no other player holds up the instance in system?

Was looking for Pharmaceutical Isolators today, in high-population Independent systems in state Outbreak. In seven systems I found three HGEs yielding a total of 39 PIs.

That's the best result I've had looking for PIs since 2018.

literally dozens of guides on this. Here's but one:

Resetting High Grades is the way to go for manufactured mats and this guide shows this well, there's only one caveat - I no longer see the signal source on the nav panel after restarting the game. What I do instead is fly forward at 30km/s for ~5 seconds, then flip around and after pitching ~200 degrees I see a USS at point blank range.
The rest as in the video - select, drop in, collect, repeat.

Capital systems and systems with high populations tend to be more fruitful too, from my experience. I'll often find 2 HGEs at a time in those systems. Smaller systems seem more hit or miss.

As title, I am trying to stock up and not having much luck

Cheers
If you dont care about exploits.
1: Find a High grade Emission with a 30min timer.
2 : Drop in and collect the stuff.
3 : Close the game. (not goto menu "close the game")
4 : Login jump to super cruise.
5 : Target the closest unknown signal source to you.
6 : Drop in and collect the stuff.
7 : Goto 3

This has been known for ages and Fdev could have fixed it by placing timers on all collected items in the game.
They cant be arsed so have at it :)

If you dont want to exploit do whats listed in the above posts :)

That hardest part of getting G4/G5 manufactured materials if finding a HGE signal source that has the right material, plenty of time on the clock and not a trillion miles away from the main star.

After several attempts at finding these across multiple systems each time, I can only say that that sounds exceptional! My experience is quite the opposite!

Next time I go looking it'll be for Improvised Components.

High-population Independent systems in state Civil Unrest are much rarer (and less populous) than those in Outbreak - and there are only seven Alliance systems in that state, none with a population of a million or more.

If I do as well then I'll assume that Christmas has come very early this year.

Edit: As I was writing this I was wondering if it would be worth checking Empire and Federation systems in Civil Unrest: they might share their HGEs with IS and CDCs respectively, but half ICs is better than none.

However, I had a look at eddb and there aren't all that many Imperial and Federation systems in Civil Unrest either. It's just a fundamentally rare state, and one that seems to mostly afflict low-population systems.

its a rare state for a controlling faction, as countered by bounty redeems. you might be more lucky to find an independent system in a state of none, with non-controlling factions in state of civil unrest - any factions state can give HGE, controlling or not.

problem being there is no third party site i know off which would allow such a search, and the galaxy map also does not allow to show non-controlling factions state. in effect improvised components is one of the things i always trade in (for imperial shielding or G5 stuff being found in boom HGE)
