G5 Drives - Anaconda agility VS Python

I have a dilemma

I really liked how the Python handled pre-nerf, and from what I saw on G5 drives it seems just amazing with the mods.
I also like the Anaconda for how much utility and hardpoints brings, however I can't stand the vanilla manoeuvrability, boost etc.

~How much better the Anaconda gets when fully modded? It is comparable to a Python (even stock)?
I could only find this video but not sure how it reflects true conditions of live build https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHZUY5Gzpb8

Thanks

If you go to coriolis.edcd.io, you can plug in all the modules, etc and engineering and it will tell you yaw rates, etc, in the 'profiles' tab. You can save these builds as well, I maintain one for every single ship I have, painstakingly entering all the engineering accurately. It gives very accurate results, except where diminishing returns on resistances are concerned. I'm sure someone who knows off the to pof their heads will come along and tell you which is more agile, but I thought it worth mentioning this excellent tool :)

The Anaconda, without too much mass, can handle quite well with DD5, but no where near as good as a Python with DD5. But still great for such a large ship.

It's been a while, but I think a DD5 Anaconda is better than a stock Python.

I use both, and my Anaconda is perfectly fine in combat. But I don't use armour on my Anaconda or Python, to save money and mass(especially since NPC's can rarely breach my shields).

I'd say go for it. But don't sell your Python. Pythons always have a use. :)

I use my SLF and Packhound Launchers to deal with anything I can't keep my guns on. I rarely have any issues. :)

Thanks, what's an SLF?

Thanks, what's an SLF?

Ship launched fighter.

Personally, I skipped the Anaconda and stuck with the Python until I could get the Cutter. I never got on with the Anaconda, it's like flying a brick whatever you do to it (though for some reason, I never minded that of the Type-9). The Python, on the other hand... Engineer that and it is a great ship.

They're good to use, with high ranking NPC crew.

They can keep an agile target bust while you get your main guns on them. :)

I used to think my Annie handles like a brick, until I put DD5 on it.
It's obviously no Python, but I can usually keep my guns on all but the most agile of [NPC] ships. :)
She is a little bit drifty though.

I'm the opposite, I tried the T9 and sold it again. I couldn't cope with its handling in normal space or supercruise. Lol

Admittedly, that was before the Engineers. I'd buy a new one, of I actually had a use for it. Lol

IMHO Ananconda with DD5 is still worse than Python with normal thrusters. Top boost speed (~330mps) is about the same, but Python still turns better. Of course, a modded Python is like a Cobra. :D

Also, even with DD5, a Cutter moves like a whale. The only good thing is the top speed/boost. Best ship from the big ones, in terms of maneuverability is the Corvette.

I don't mind the drift - the Cutter's only mode of movement is drifting. :) I don't think I have much of a rational objection to the Annie, I just didn't like it! Mind you, I should probably revisit it now I have my Rift. I also hated the iCourier as the view was awful. However, in VR, the cockpit become a completely different environment, and I now find the Courier fun.

I might have to get Corvette

He says the Anaconda is a flying brick. He also owns a Cutter. What gives?

I just happen to be in the outfitting screen and have one of each with nearly identical G5 DD rolls @34%, and both are pretty much naked atm.

I'm rounding but my Python is ~650t, speed 360/470, p/r/y: 45/140/16
Anaconda is ~ 705t, speed 282/376, p/r/y: 40/94/16
At this weight my engineered 6A and 7A thrusters are exactly the same for the Anaconda, aside from the mass penalty and .01 roll advantage for the 7As, lol.

You should. I've spent a lot of time using both an Anaconda and Corvette for combat, and although the Anaconda has an edge over the Corvette in armor (which is arguably unimportant considering the fact that your shields shouldn't ever drop if you know what you're doing) and a slight edge in DPS, the Corvette's maneuverability more than makes up for it in my opinion. Eagles and DBs aren't such a pain now; just flip the flight assist off, whip the ship around, and unload on them. I love the Corvette. [heart]
