Galactic Backdrop Dynamic?

Hi All,

I play ED on 2 different PC's. My work PC is a powerful graphics/video system but hy home PC is a gaming laptop XPS so a bit old now. On my old laptop the graphics are noticeably more granular. One thing I noticed was that the Milky Way in the backdrop seemed to be made of flakes. Kind of like layered leaves one in top of the other. This fascinated me and the only conclusion I could think of is the older optimisation on my laptop doesn't hide the dynamic background galactic view structure as much, is this true? Is the background dynamic so as we move across the Galactic Plane it will dynamically change to reflect our position and us this the reason for the flakes or leaf style rendering?

Broadly speaking - yes, the background is built up based on where you are in the galaxy and nearby features/stars/etc, it took several peeps a lot of effort to make that sufficiently awesome :).

As for what was causing the visual artefacts you mention... no idea I'm afraid, worth ticketing if it's a repeatable problem though.

Thanks for such a prompt answer. It's only just noticeable so not really a problem, in all honesty it excited me regarding the potential vistas especially near the center or in nebula or clusters. Superb :)

(P.s any chance a mod could delete the double post of this thread thanks).

Hi gamecat,

If you submit a ticket for this, please could you attach a screenshot. I should be able to tell which part of the galaxy is misbehaving from it.
