So recently after making some good money bounty hunting, I bought myself a big FSD and went on a trip to distant star-systems.
I read in the wiki the "Imperial design puts an emphasis on the glamorous, glorious, and aesthetically beautiful, with extravagance in abundance. Everything in the Empire looks impressive, from their cities, to their ships, right down to the clothes worn by Imperial subjects." I expected this to be reflected in the architecture and interior of their Space Stations. But the truth was a big let down. Everything was exactly the same, irrespective of economies, wealth, faction or any other major cultural differences. The only space stations that looked different were in Sol.
I think adding a lot more variety in space stations should be high on the list of priorities for ED, to represent the sheer diversity that would invariably result across a massive galaxy like this.
May be they can take a modular / layered approach - ie they can take the basic space stations types, add distinct layers of visual features for each of the defining factors - the different factions, different economies, population, wealth and so on. May be throw in a few randomly generated elements. This would create space stations that feel different from the last space-station you visited (due to several combinations of said layers) yet representative of the "culture" of the systems.
Cheers.
