Galactic map lag / stutters / route calculation time extremely long

When exploring before, I have headed toward the galactic rim. Now I am heading coreward, checking out the inner arms and the closer I get the laggier everything becomes. I'm about 16,000 LY from Sol and whenever I open the galactic map it tries to draw the blue connecting lines between my current system and every other system around it, this seems to run extremely slow and lags out the rest of the operations I try to do. Whether I am zoomed out or in makes no difference, and when I try to plot another 1000 LY course it takes upwards of 10 minutes to calculate the fastest route. The economical routes take even longer! I'm running an AMD FX 8150 64-bit 8 core processor and 16 GB of Ram... the stutter is the same regardless of the graphics settings so I don't think it's a graphics issue, but I have a good card there as well. I noticed this issue in the bug forums and it seems to have gone unanswered for a while. Is there anyway to fix this FD? Anyone have any suggestions short of buying different equipment?

EDIT: Here is the thread in the the bug reports - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=131767&p=2307323
