Galactic news predictions for 3305

I for one am particularly interested in galactic news and politics. The year 3304 brought many interesting new developments in politics, science and technology, as reported by the Galnet news service.

What are your predictions for the big happenings of 3305? I'll start the discussion by sharing some of mine:

The part of Zarek Null in Galnet Audio has been voiced by Michael Palin, based on his epic depiction of Pontius Pilate in the Life of Brian:

Sadly, due to the ED swear filter, his best friend will not be making an appearance in-game

Its a multi part one, as FD love to drag it out:

1. Exporers Go Missing
2. Conda crashes at Achanar Star Port, Terrorists Suspected
.. blah blah terrorists
3. Structural Integrety Issues suspected in Old Condas on High G worlds
4. Flaw in Condas proven
5. Full Product Recall to rectify design flaw
6. All Condas lose their magic helium, and fit the jump calculations like a normal ship.

Of course, my prediction is more than just mere speculation, considering that me and my minions will in fact be unleashing sentient AI upon the galaxy on December 15th, 3304 (open-mode player event):

Another Alliance storyline that goes nowhere, has no effect on the game and nobody is interested in.

This is a repeat from 3304, 3303 & 3302.

Well, I for one am interested in Mr. Null's doings, feeble as they are, because there is really not anything else that's of much interest. Although deeply misguided and damaged, Mr. Null is making an effort and must be acknowledged for doing so.

- Humans finally invent the technology that enables pilots to stand up from their chairs and explore their ships.
- The invisible wall that prevents ships from landing on atmospheric planets is removed.
- Fleet Carriers are purchasable.

Every human being must what?? I can't stand the suspense!!!

If you want to read the rest of the Galnet article, realize that there's an orange colored scrollbar along the right-hand side; just click and drag that scrollbar downwards, and it will show you the rest of the text. That's what I did. And it was a truly fascinating read.

hmmmmmm, UA bombing? anyone?

That's an interesting thing to consider. UA bombing does not disable docking, so it would not directly thwart Operation:Tinman from succeeding. However, it could be indirectly detrimental to my security forces if they lost access to ship services at that particular station, since it is likely to become PvP hotspot where repairing/rearming is important (do these become disabled from UA-bombing?). However, the loss of services would also effect my opposition, so I'm not sure that it would give my opponents any real advantage.

Zarek Null is a human. Therefore, Zarek Null will be a slave.

Have you thought this through my overlord?

When SAI-4 is enabled, he will in many ways be a blank slate, cognitively speaking. This creates something of a problem, because a sentient agent that acts "freely" actually does so in order to satisfy its deeper underlying goals or motives, but a tabula rasa mind would lack such motives by definition. So in order to "kickstart" SAI-4's consciousness, his synthetic mind needed to be "seeded" with some initial motives, just to "get the ball rolling" in terms of his generative processes.

Now I fully realize that an advanced AI could very quickly overtake all humanity, and that could even include me (their Creator). That is why I had Minsky program an initial motive that will compel SAI-4 to immediately begin inventing a means of transferring my consciousness onto a synthetic body and merging my mind with the AI super-intelligence. Once this is done:

- I will be immune to the risk of human extinction (as I will no longer be human)
- I will become just as intelligent if not moreso than the AIs
- I will become immortal, thereby gaining the ability to rule the galaxy FOREVER

Although I am not going to partake in the event, I do hope the amount of possible mayhem will be maximized. Considering the distance of Redmarch from the Bubble, are there going to be refueling ships so that fuel scoops are not needed? How important is it to take out said refuellers? Will forces simply park at Redmarch way in advance? Outfitting will not be accessible if Redmarch is UA bombed. What systems nearby have large pads?

I do sincerely hope that y'all annihilate each other.

So all we have to do is Pirate one microcontroller?

Are the names of the other Commanders available?.

Two, actually. There's 4 pieces and 3 are needed, so forcing two targets to drop theirs and stealing/destroying them should be enough.

Of course, that will take some organized opposition and luck to pull off against canny & well-equipped pilots.
