Galactic Photographer in the making (Screenshot heavy)

I wanted to share with you all the best few hours in game we have had so far which resulted in a beautiful Screenshot. Sorry for the long post, just skim through it if you want to see pictures. If they are very dark then sorry, the screen had full gamma on at the time and I didn't want to mess with them in paintshop. The last 3 are in external links as I ran out of space for the last few screenshots.

It all started with me and my other half wanting to meet up in Elite to do some bounty hunting together. We did a few USS’s together and even got an Anaconda down with no damage to our poor Cobra’s. After a few hours Cmdr Favstvs mentions that there is no person in another ships cockpit. Being curious and slightly upset that my feminine figure (even if it is only an avatar) is not going to be seen in Elite we decided to have a look.

So in a very ‘Elite’ fashion he positions his ship beside mine and flips onto his back. Guess what, there is no Pilot!

I had been running my ShadowPlay recording while he got close and so I grabbed a still frame of his ship from it but it came out quite… bad.

His PC, controls (X52) and monitor (32”) are far superior to my poor lowly machine. After all his machine is on wheels and he has a 6 foot desk to support his 2 monitors, joystick, keyboard, printer… Sorry getting off topic.

Anyway we decided his screenshots were better than mine so we started to play with the view.

As a station was behind us we decided to use it as a backdrop. As he was now the photographer I tried to move my ship to get the angle right. Now I blame this on being a lady driver and I never scratched the paintwork, just the shields. Even so I had to stop my ship dead as my partner started laughing about ‘being able to toast bread on that exhaust’ and took a screenshot of my backside to prove it.

I finally got into position but ended up the wrong way up. I stuck out my landing gear and cargo hatch for a bit of fun and it made me look like a turtle on my back.

Ok I finally got the hang of moving the ship around using his screen and mine to get the right angle. Imagine having to fly your ship 3rd person in a mirror then you can understand how disorientating it is. In the end we had the angle and backdrop I wanted.

Even with the station having NPC’s docking it still did not seem quite right. Mr bright spark comes up with the idea of deploying guns.

Hmm, still not quite right. I know, why don’t I fire the beams and we can get a great fight scene… I was not facing him enough to hit him but 2 things finally got through to me that it was a bad idea…

1. I have gimbal mounted lasers.

2. We were still within the No Fire Zone.

No I do not have a screenshot of either of us being blown to components, but it was close. Due to this I decided to put the weapons away before I hurt someone. As I did the guns had little blinking yellow lights! We finally had our lovely screenshot for the desktop.

Who else has great screenshots? Why not post them below and show off your ‘Elite’ photo skills.

Hey nice! This game has a great strength in its visuals. Why not try your hand at some planetary bodies. Especially now that orbit lines can be turned off. You can probably get some amazing shots.

Side note: As technology allows for more visually impressive scenes, I wonder if in game photography would ever become a serious thing. Impressive now yes, but imagine where we'll be in 10, 20, 30 years with stuff like this.

Again, nicely done.
