Hi CMDRs
I've been spending some time in a small industrial system trying to bring about some change in the controlling factions, only I have run in to a couple of problems. The system I am working on has one faction that is affiliated with the Federation and no factions affiliated with the Alliance or Empire.
- The Federally affiliated corporateion faction has 1% influence in the system
- A couple of pirate factions are 5%-10%
- An independent dictatorship has 20% and controls a small outpost
- A relatively hippy outfit that believes everyone should have a say in the affairs of the system has 60%
At first I thought I would support the hippies - some trading, bounty hunting and missions bumped them from 58% to 60%. I then changed my mind and thought about the dictatorship, again trading with their outpost, bounty hunting the major factions ships and some missions got them from 18% to 20%. These changes happened over a relatively short period of time (e.g. a day or two).
But that was all in my noob days. I have settled on bringing about the rise of the Federation in my little corner of the galaxy - I enlisted in the Federal Navy, though I am only a recruit, and set to work...
Having read an excellent guide on the subject called Elite Dangerous Galactic Politics Guide by xhrit (sorry I cant post the link as I am new to the forum) I realise there is little I can do to help this extremely minor faction - It looks like I can only help them by completing missions, as trade and combat will only help the no:1 & no:2 factions. I have completed about 15 missions for the minor faction and they are still sitting on 1%.
Looking at the traffic update for the system I am pretty much the only person in town - occasionally someone else swings through.
My plan is this:
- Get them up to 7% or 8% through missions
- Start to knock the other minor factions down below 6% through combat until my one is in 2nd place
- Hit the major faction through combat and trade etc.
Also I have only been playing in solo mode so far, I am tempted to make the switch over to open play soon.
Ok so here are my questions:
- is it the correct assumption that I can only help my faction through missions?
- is it remotely possible that I can get their influence up to 6% on my own?
- does anyone have any bright ideas or great tips for me?
Many thanks in advance....
