I was wondering if there is a thread or website somewhere summing up the current political situation in the galaxy. Of course I read the GalNet news but somehow I don't get an overall idea of what is happening.

I see that the current Fed president is not doing very well and that the shadow president is on her heels, but other than that I don't really understand, e.g., what the different people in the Fed, or in the Empire stand for and what their position in the race to power (ha! Powerplay comes to mind, again!) is. E.g., why are people opposing Patreus' Community Goal and what does he want? Etc.

In short: is there any Cliff's Notes kind of thing for that, or can anyone give a short overview of what the current situation is and what led to it? That would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

(I hope I don't get too many "read the GalNet news" kind of answers - I would like "the bigger picture" if that's possible...)

Unfortunately I don't think any of these will give you the Dramatis Personae as it were, but may give you a better feel for what the superpowers stand for.
