Galaxy and System Map Load Times

Greetings Fellow CMDRs!

I've noticed a bit of an increase in the time it takes to load both the galaxy and system maps recently.
Sometimes it can be well over 1 minute. Especially on the system map.

Now if its my connection causing the trouble, (20mb at home, 1-4mb at work), then fair enough. My problem.

But can we get a cancel button in case it's taking way long than we have time for?
(Example: SC towards your destination!)

It's been a problem with the system map for some considerable time... so rule out your connection/speeds etc

I'm not sure of the cause... but we just live with it now

A few seconds for the system map is well known (but a minute - whew!) however the galmap usually comes up fairly briskly for me - a couple of seconds at most. If you have a long wait for both it sound suspiciously like a slow connection.

I've known it to take 20 seconds to load the system map but never as long as a minute.

The system map needs redesigning anyway in my opinion as it is not a map at all.

It should be renamed "System Inventory" as all it shows are the stars and the hierarchy of planets and moons associated with it (as well as other stars). A 'map' would show you all the same items but where they currently are in their orbit around the parent body and your location relative to them. There is room in the game for both as they both have their uses (different sides of the same coin).
