GALAXY CAM TRANSLATE Y-AXIS ISSUES

I'm trying to get settled with my new HOTAS, however i can not for the life of me get the galaxy and system map to feel right. I want to push down on the joystick to move forward, but i also want that to count as down when toggling to z-axis. however as far as i can tell, there doesn't seem to be any way to separately invert those. Unless you specifically tie the z axis to something it refuses to be inverted. Furthermore, the Y axis also seems to control up and down in the system map, which once again is inverted to the way i want it.

Does anyone know of any way to mitigate this?

Use other buttons as a modifiers so that when one is held and you push down the joystick it does one thing, and when the other is held and you push down on the joystick it does the other.

As far as your inverted issue goes, pretty sure you can toggle between inverted and regular in the bindings. I know all the axis I have bound to these things for galaxy map can be toggled like that.

I would think you can bind the Z Translate to a button+Joy Forward, so you hold down the button and press forward to start using the Z axis, in the settings the Z translation should have an option to invert / regular

Sadly you don't seem to be able to add modifiers to axis inputs. Despite holding a button, it will immediately ask if you want to change the previously bound input.

Sadly it sound like you will be forced to bind the Z translation to a different input such as a HAT or keyboard. I have mine set to the throttle axis. forward throttle increases the Z axis up, and back throttle lowers the Z axis down.
With the joystick used for forward, back, left and right. along with twisting the joystick for rotation left/right
i have nothing bound to pitch.
Galaxy map controls are clunky at best with a hotas. mouse is far more accurate and intuitive
I have mine set to use both HOTAS and Mouse for those moments im in VR i can never find my mouse as im blindly knocking over everything on my desk looking for it with one hand.

Yeah, i currently have up and down set to a different key that doesn't interfere with anything, it's not optimal but i'll have to live with it.

That however still leaves me with the issue that up and down in system map, and forward and backwards in galaxy map seem to be locked and cannot be individually inverted. Which is a massive pain in the ass as it's REALLY unintuitive

:Edit I just went to go check and the gal/sys map thing suddenly randomly fixed itself. yay?

The Translate (Axis) should have invert options. the two options just below each Axis are direct input options for the same translation and would have no axis to relate to. Is that what are you are talking about having no invert option? the two direct input keybindings for each axis?
Biased on the image the direct inputs can use key combinations but have no use for regular/invert as there is nothing counter to it except another keybind in the opposite direction.

No see my issue isn't that i can't invert it. My issue is that when using the "GALAXY CAM SET Y-AXIS TO Z-AXIS" input, i cannot separately invert the Y and X axis, they are bound to eachother. I also tried to just bind Y forward and Y backwards separately and then binding them again for X with a modifier, however when using an AXIS input instead of a button it doesn't seem to let me use modifiers.

Sadly you don't seem to be able to add modifiers to axis inputs. Despite holding a button, it will immediately ask if you want to change the previously bound input.

Ahh, that might explain why I use the hat more than the stick in the galmap and system map. Just set up my bindings a few months ago, how quickly I forget why I did it how I did.

Yeah Joystick axis can not use a modifier. Modifiers can only be used with direct input, keyboard, hat or button.
Binding Y Axis (forward / backwards) to Joy forward, automatically sets Joy backwards to the the Y Axis. So trying to bind Joy back or forward to Z will erase the Y axis.
Im guessing you are trying to get the galaxy map to be controlled entirely by the joystick.
Maybe Joy Forward/backwards to Y Axis, Joy Left/right to X Axis, and Translate down to HAT down, and Translate up to HAT up.
Leaving HAT Left and HAT Right to cycle through the menu
or translate up, to primary trigger, and down to secondary trigger. but i just assumed those would be used for selecting objects.
My perfered method is using the throttle axis for up and down, this leaves the HAT for menu selection in the galaxy map and my triggers for selection.
