Galaxy map always opens with the camera at 0 degrees to the horizontal

The galaxy map always opens with the camera at 0 degrees to the horizontal. To put another way, every time I open the galaxy map in VR I have to pitch the camera up or down 30-40 degrees before the map is usable. I don't need to do this in 2D.

Is this the same for everybody? I ask because it doesn't seemed to get mentioned much (at all?) so it's either just me or it doesn't bother other people as much as it does me :)

Yes, it always opens 'on the plane' so to speak. I can't say it bothers me much, my first action is always to pitch myself up so I'm looking down on it.

I guess the difference in the galaxy map between VR and screen is that in screen mode you are looking at the map, whereas in VR you are in the map.

Thanks for both replies.

I'd be shocked if it hadn't been reported to FDev already.

Did a search for a bug, couldn't find one but it could have been titled a hundred different ways.

Not sure whether to raise a bug or a suggestion, but seeing as it doesn't behave this way in 2D I think I'll raise a bug report.

I'd say it's more of a suggestion, as I suspect it's intended, but certainly no harm in reporting it.

As I said, I think it's just a neutral position to start in based upon the premise that we are in the map, not looking at it front on. :)
