Galaxy Map freezes all of a sudden

Hello, I took a 6 months break from ED. Today I logged in to make my way from Anchors Rest back to the bubble. I plotted a Route and began jumping.

Now when opening the Glaxymap it almost completly freezes. Super laggy mouse movement and the stars load in very slowly. No chance to navigate at all.

I notice that when opening the Galxy Map my FPS go down to below 10, my GPU utilization and Frequency drop to almost zero. Never had this issue in 1500 hours.
Any idea whats going on?

The exact same thing happened to me on Thursday. I fixed it by going into Options - Graphics and reset my Frame rate limit to Zero. That fixed it for me.

thanks for your reply. Once I finished traveling the plottes route everything was back to normal. And plotting a new route did not result in the same bug.
I will keep your suggestion in mind in case this will happen again.

I have also encountered this problem a couple of times. If you are playing on PC via Steam there is an easy way to fix it. Go to Steam library and select Elite. Click on the cog icon on the right hand side of the game's page and select properties. Once there click Local Files and then verify your files.
This will 100% fix the issue but if your route is a particularly long one it will likely break again if you make any adjustments like changing star classes used by the route and you'll have to repeat the process.

I have this issue atm. My map freezes only once the line marking the rout is drawn, also while monitoring my system my GPU drops from about 60% to 0%, almost like the map is trying to use another GPU. running the verification tool on steam right now and will check when its finished and edit the post with more info.

Edit 1: the verification tool did not fix the issue, nor did updating drivers, nor did buying and installing odyssey (just a coincidence I was planning on buying it anyway), nor did changing graphics settings to mid, nor did changing the refresh rate or frame fate limit.

deleting your gpuworktable.xml in your products folder may help (wont harm it will be re written)
so maybe try that as things have been known to get stuck in that cache
on a side note there was a freez bug on settlements which slowed the framerate to a stop whilst this has still happened it has been greatly improved and I personally am finding the game much more playable atm than it has been in the past.
