Galaxy map is annoying me a lot

a lot of the time when I zoom out and drag to rotate, I accidentally click a random system and this changes the system I wanted selected, then I have to choose it and zoom out again to rotate it again to get a correct angle of travel. Why does this keep happening? Does it happen to anyone else?

I think it happens because you keep accidentally selecting random systems. If you stop doing that it should stop happening

okay, what I'm doing is zooming out on the map, and using left click to drag and rotate the map right? As soon as I let go of the left click button, it zooms into a random system as if I clicked it. How is that my fault? I'm just dragging the mouse like normal, using the left click for it's intended purpose, if I wanted to stop dragging to rotate, I would let go of left click, but letting go of the left click also clicks onto another system. I'm not doing anything else with my other controls, this happens often and I'm just using the mouse and left click

We need the originally planned for orrery view of the systems.

Sounds like your mouse buttons "bounce". You could try increasing the double-click delay in the mouse settings menu, check your mouse driver or just check if your left mouse button has a wonky contact (unlikely; the microswitches found in mice are pretty robust) by temporarily swapping left and right mouse button functions in the mouse settings.

Yea, the galaxy map can be a bit fiddly. It's search function doesn't work for a lot of systems, as well. It could use additional user set graphical options, such as draw distances, also an additional "previously visited" filter would be nice. Ability to save and recall routes as well.. Lots of work could be done to improve it.

Since Horizons is an exploration focused expansion, it's been my hope that improvements to the gal map are part of it's features they haven't told us about yet.

Oh and that system map Witcherman posted.. I know it's off topic but I'd really love that - was always underwhelmed by the current system map and wanted it looking more like in that shot. Another hope for Horizons? :)

sounds plausible, but if so, this is the only game that's fast enough to have registered it, or anywhere else on the computer for that matter, so it's quite strange

I was using it for rotation though, does it allow that?

Sure. Just use different keys ;)

I use an X52, so I've mapped all the movements to joystick/throttle buttons. The only time I need to use the mouse is to select the panel where the text is.

And I only use the keyboard to type in search names.
