Galaxy map is frustrating

After however long, still having issues even now.

i.e. I'll search for a system, hit enter, map will zoom to that system and I click route, and it maps to a different system. Clicking search and route 2-3 times usually fixes this. (and yes I'm selecting the right system)
Similarly, map will zoom to system, and route button will be grayed, once again clicking search and route usually fixes.

There are a couple of other examples but this is what happens most. I'm in a ~60lyr krait, nothing is out of reach jump-wise, and it doesn't really seem like it should be happening considering just repeating the same process "fixes" it.

Am I missing something? Just a known feature of galaxy map?

I think this is caused by how they coded the mouse auto target thingie in Galaxy Map. But you are not alone, I constantly ends up in the wrong system in Galaxy Map, often the system I currently are in.

There's definitely room for improvement:

1.The hard disappearance of systems as you zoom could be softened or improved.
2. The maddening way the the pop up seems programmed to appear directly over the actual system you want.
3. The way the orientation won't stay fixed (this is especially annoying if you are traveling fast and trying to maintain a fixed course).

I figure it's like the wires that hang down in the cockpit, or the way my throttle quad has no centre detente and the hall effect widget has dust in it, so stopping still is a 30 second process of slight adjustments and cursing.

If you see me taking off, there's this bit where I bump up and down over 10 meters trying to get the vertical velocity zeroed.
That's what I'm doing.
It's not just the whisky.

But yeah the GalMap is kinda idiosyncratic.
But if you're going to do a QOL pass on it - can we get some work on the bookmarks?
Like can I group them, and colour code them, and can I have a couple thousand, and can I turn them off by group?
Thanks that's be great.

Yes, Ive had this. So my advice is to check, double check, then look again. It seems to take the moose to a system very very near, so if you select it its often the wrong system. Once you are aware of this bug, then its just a matter of zooming in to ensure you get the right one. Annoying? Yes. But it can be overcome by dilligence. Which, I admit can sometimes be in scarce supply in my brain.

I once had a weird issue - route plot failed. To my home system. 20-ish LYs jump in a 40+ capable ship, fuel full, road clear, no permit locked one or anything. Failed because. Had to pick manually from left panel. Jumped no problem, map still refused to plot the course. Happened for the first time, could bypass it myself.

On the other hand - quite interesting "gameplay" feature. Nav comp failure requiring manual solution.

When I was messing around in very very empty space, route plotting regularly fails, despite being fairly obvious ways.

It's really good fun plotting manually.

Imagine if the galaxy map and it's abilities were tied to sensor damage.. hehe.
Hhmmmm... Idea time!
