Newcomer / Intro Galaxy Map - it´s all empty ?

Hey there,

I have over 80 hours playtime and yet am still a noob to most aspects of the game: for example exploration.

I have a basic discovery scanner, as well as a a detailed surface scanner.

so i set out trying to find myself a personal playground system / trade route .

anyways. I found systems with belts in it.. but no mater what I do, I cannot see what kind of reserves it contains. I see rocky, metalic and that. but not concentration levels.
also, I wonder about the galaxy map info:

I marked ALL kinds of governments and exactly ZERO show up on my marked course of well over 50 jumps.

all systems / jump points are in greyhish colors.

does that mean the part of the galaxy is just .. empty ??

thanks in advance

Yes, you are in the middle of nowhere in that screenshot. Populated human space is only a tiny part of the galaxy, the rest is for exploration and expansion.

Judging by the map image, and the fact that you are heading off for 50 jumps (dependant on which nav setting this would easily take you out of populated areas) it does look as though you have ventured into unpopulated space. The best view for just checking on systems in the Galmap with stations or outposts is to view by allegiance, imo.
To get the best out of exploring for discoveries and cash, you would want an Advanced Disco Scanner (fire it with trigger button set up in the fire group setting, level 1 scan) and a Detailed Scanner for level 3 scans (just adds extra credits when you target and scan a star/planet/moon using normal ship scanner (level 2 scan)).
Clear as mud really! :D

There are hundreds(? Thousands?) of systems with human populations. But they are all within a couple hundred lightyears of Sol.
