Horizons Galaxy Map ...just awful.

Horizons code release.

<2000LY from Sagg-A and the Galmap cannot plot a simple 309LY route.
Sits there sulking @ 94%, never complete. FPS drops to <5 and that's it.
Processor hogging and locks the GUI up completely.

Maybe its just me? Reproduce-able? Yup every time.

Anyone else?

Makes the game unplayable.

Will raise a ticket.

Its been like that since ever.

The problem is that near the core the star density is so high that the plotter has a very high number of possible routes to calculate the best one. Only way to mitigate this is plot smaller routes near the core.

What CPU are you using? I don't have any of these issues with my 6700k running at 4.7Ghz. Pretty sure the route calculations are all CPU bound.

you don't like ours check out NMS's... ha

I was about to post the same...

For the op, there are several threads about how to plot faster near the center of the galaxy.
My method is trying to plot near 1k. If it takes more than 20 seconds, stop it and try again a with a couple of ly less. Repeat. It is faster than just waiting.

Simple google online will lead you to a reddit post where you can calculate the optimum distance for your jump range resulting in plotting taking 3-5 secs. It would have been faster then posting the OP and less hassle.

The issue has been known since the game released and is due to the star density near the core, the above remedy is also well known to anyone who has travelled to core and researched same.

I'm currently in the same boat. My plan of action is to get away from the density of stars by going upwards, and then dropping down to Sag A when I'm right above it.

Just follow the simple instruction on the link and it works every time, I have done it myself.

Thanks Dan, for raising the question, thanks Moonax, for answering it. I'll be giving that a go when I get back home.
