Galaxy Map Mouse Control

I noticed an issue with controlling the galaxy map with a mouse. I’ve used a mouse on the map for years and, due to the press and hold to route feature, I can’t press LMB & RMB at the same time without creating a route, at least most of the time.

Are there any workarounds, possibly to turn off the press and hold feature, that don’t require using the keyboard or other controller?

thanks

No replies so I can only imagine most people don't use a mouse/trackball to navigate the galaxy map. After spending some time with it, it looks like if I make sure my cursor isn't near a star, even a single pixel, I can use the LMB + RMB without setting a route. Not an easy task if you are in a dense region or zoomed out rather far. Plus, if you are moving the map around in this mode the map might still plot a route if you happen to hover near a star whilst moving around the map.

The funny thing is I don't see any settings for mouse/trackball control of the galaxy map, it might be a built in thing. I can't imagine moving through the map using a different controller or keyboard.

For future reference, I can use the trackball with my thumb to quickly perform the following functions:

LMB: Pitch and Yaw simultaneously
RMB: Up/Down and Yaw simultaneously
LMB + RMB: Forward/Backwards and Left/Right simultaneously
Mouse Wheel: Zoom In/Out

I would suggest the ability to optionally turn off the Hold to Route feature. I'd also suggest that clicking on an icon toggles the relevant flyout window, some do this but it is inconsistent. Another thing would be seeing "incorrect map mode" on an icon is terrible UI design, it should either switch to the correct map or tell you which map mode you need to be on, there are a lot of map modes and it isn't obvious which mode to switch to.

On second thought, the current galaxy map is a step backwards from the Horizons galaxy map. The best idea would be to revert it, the current map seems like it was designed with gamepads in mind.
