When zoomed in to a single star, the Galaxy Map is very slow and sometimes freezes up. This has never happened before but I'm currently between Colonia and Sagittarius A. Also when I zoom out to about 280 Ly it functions normally. Please tell me this will stop.

Hmm.... There's a separate Detail Level setting for the Galaxy Map in the Options.
Try reducing the respective Detail level and see if that helps.
Unless there's another process severely intervening with System Performance, the Galaxy Map performance should be okay at all times - with maybe the exception near the core (Galaxy Center), since there's a crapton of dense Stars which also severely slows Route Plotting.

Yea, I'm near the core in the light show, so I hope that is the problem. Thank you!
