Galaxy map new features and Virtual Reality.

Hey there, just wondering about these new trade features in the Galmap and how easy to use they may be for players in VR? Some people enjoy VR but find the Galmap and System map less than simple to use / navigate. Will Beyond bring VR users some optimisation ie make things easier or simpler to use?

The galmap is already easy in VR if you set your binding up properly. Basically, do not use your mouse.

This, a thousand times over. Don't even touch the mouse when using the galmap in VR, it will just troll you. With proper bindings it's easier to navigate the map with a HOTAS in VR than with a mouse in 2D.

I want vr, but I think I will loose control.

If/when there is a vr clove, which uses your hands and a virtual keyboard or buttons on screen if will be playable.

Yes we have visuals, but less control. PC can use voice attack. But really you want a glove and touch stuff in your view

In VR you get that with the HOTAS, and that's where all of your controls should be anyway. Better yet, you're using a physical controller instead of air-pushing virtual buttons. It works very well, the only real problem is the keyboard, which is always an issue when using a HOTAS.

I use vr and, although I'll admit it's not as easy as without vr, the galmap is usually no problem once you get used to it. It's actually one of the cooler aspects of vr, it feels like a super futuristic map that just appears around you, and the galaxy is fully 3D. it actually made me nauseous the first few times I've used it.

I've been using the galaxy map in VR with a joystick for a while now and I'm getting pretty good at it. But there's no way I could match the speed at which they clicked round multiple systems in the demonstration with a mouse to check the info on the pop-ups.

Just experiment with some X Y and Z bindings using your HOTAS... Galmap settings are independent of flight settings, so there is absolutely no interference... They share the same UI select and menu navigation controls as the general menu system, though.

I bound the controls to my HOTAS & it's useable - it's still not particularly easy or intuitive though, if they were able to make improvements it'd be good but probably not high priority
