Galaxy Map - orange arches above stars

Greetings everyone!

Does anybody know the meaning of those orange arches above the stars in the GalMap?

Hi Qglfang, the orange arcs show systems that you can reach in one jump from the star you have selected. They account for your current jump range, mass, fuel, etc. Useful if you're out exploring, trying to work out if you can make your way through some sparse area.

Rep +1. Was wondering about this myself :)

They're leftover from the original beta, when the galaxy was restricted, and are currently not utilized in the game. They used to be markers to indicate where you could travel within the [restricted] bubble

They don't do that, if you have a closer look at your map they're all over stars outside your jump-range.

If you select a star in then galaxy map and it maybe a 1000ly away from where you are, then near the selected star are other stars that have the orange arc, these are stars that are within the jump range of your ship off the selected star, exactly as FrogsFriend quoted.

It's also a question that's been asked and answered on these forums many times. Can you show me where you're getting your info from?

Happy to be corrected.

Hi mp4x, in your screenshot you've selected system BLU THUA GP-A C3-0 and the star with the arc is in single-jump range of that star. The distance shown, 2082.32LY is the distance that BLU THUA GP-A C3-0 is from the system you're actually in.

If you scroll around the map and place your pointer on any star so it highlights, the arcs will appear on systems around that star. You don't need to actually click-and-centre on the star for it to work.

Note that if you're viewing the stars 'by economy type' or similar so they show as coloured balls, the arcs don't adjust their position relative to the centre point and can sometimes be lost inside the ball.
