Galaxy Map Route Plotter not taking already spent fuel into account

Spent fuel does not seem to be taken into account for Neutron Star enhanced jumps - the less fuel you have, the higher the Jump Range should be (as indicated in the Ship Panel - it increases as you spend fuel) - but the Route Plotter on the Galaxy Map refuses to plot a jump that far. It seems to calculate the range with full fuel tanks instead of their current levels.

Steps to Reproduce

Take note of your max jump range with full fuel tanks. Jump to a Neutron star.
Your max jump range is already higher now (because you spent fuel getting here) Charge your FSD at a Neutron star.
Use your Ship Panel to check how far you are supposed to be able to jump. Use the Galaxy Map to plot a jump that far (check the right-hand Option Route Setting, "Use Jet-Cone Boost") - notice that you cannot jump as far as you are supposed to. You can only jump as far as you would be able to with a full tank.

I couldn't find this listed as an issue on the tracker. So here it is:

You can manually plot to a star with the adjusted range, iirc, the route planner however always assumes a full tank (whatever size that might be; the only exception is if a cargo rack is present, as you can simulate having cargo to change the range). So to leverage enhanced range, iirc the only way is to do a bespoke jump, then replot to the desired destination (if that is more hops away).

Same thing happens if you consume materials for an FSD boost, the map will not plot based on the adjusted range, only the base tank range. Has been this way for some time.

Pretty sure that’s intentional. It stops people plotting a route and then accidentally over fuelling when scooping a star.

You can manually select a target system at the limit of your charged jump range.

As others have said, the calculation is always based on maximum fuel tanks.

So, you've got half a tank of fuel just after jumping into a system, you adjust heading to the next system on your route skirting the star and activating your fuel scoop therby altering the calculation and pushing you out of jump range ...

The first part is a reasonable assumption.

Still, ... it prevents me from making a single jump that my ship could otherwise make - so manually selecting a target does not work, even if it's a direct route (one jump).

So, yeah, just venting ^^ Next to the "permit locked" error messages, which seem to be bugs (as they occur at near random while plotting a route) this makes my Neutron Star Highway trip a pain in the lower back, needlessly so - I would like to just make some five or six jumps, scoop fuel, plot a new five/six jumps route.

Switched the non-sequence filter off, kept the jet cone boost setting on, plotted route to a bookmark - and suddenly it works (apart from not maxing out range) and stops throwing the permit lock errors xD

That is not correct. If you select a system in the galaxy map (even with a route plotted) it becomes your next jump target, so you can always make manual jumps. Just select it, don't try to plot a route.

Oh my goodness, you're right - one can use "select target" on the left-hand side to mark a system as a target without plotting a route to it in the way the UI suggests to ("hold to plot")! Thank you!

I use that when I need to refuel on a neutron jump route - when I need to refuel, instead of doing the jump the the next neutron jump, I just select a fuel star next to the neutron system. Sure, it's an extra jump, but when you need fuel, you need fuel :). After refueling I resume the plotted route - that's what the "next system in route" keybind is for.

Very nice! That helped me a lot, thank you kindly :) and, yeah, "next sytem in route" is super handy!
