Galaxy map search using gamepad?

Hi I was just wondering if there is an option to get a virtual keyboard to pop open when I toggle the "search" bar in the galaxy map? I have come from the xbox version so already fine using the game pad to navigate the galaxy map manually and all the controls seem to carry over, I would like not to have to reach for my keyboard to type if possible. Also on the default game pad settings are is there a binding for flight assist on or off?
