Galaxy Map Services Filter shows all grey stars even for places I've been already

As the title says, the galmap is all greyed on on the services filter despite having been to tens of thousands of systems in the bubble alone. The filter doesn't even work for systems that I am currently in.

I am doing something wrong or is my account bugged?

For trader services, you have to visit the system to populate the data. At least that has been my experience.

There is a handy guide for finding mat traders. I'll find it for you.

Some notes on finding Mat traders...
- Raw Materials Trader: found at extraction and refinery economies, only trades in raw material found on planet surfaces and planetary rings.
- Manufactured Materials Trader: Found at industrial economies, only trades in manufactured materials.
- Encoded Materials Trader: Found at High Tech and Military economies, only trades in encoded materials.
- Systems also need to be mid to high security systems and have populations between 1,000,000 and 22,000,000.
- Jurisdiction can't be in lockdown.

Thanks, though as I said in the OP, the filter doesn't work for me on systems that I am current in, so visiting a system has no effect. I first noticed this at Shinrarta when I went there to get my materials list for the guardian items. Neither the Materials trader nor the Tech Broker show up on the galmap.

Hmmm.... seemed to work for me. Try a relog?

Ah wait. Maybe they are range limited? I was near the guardian sites when I was checking today. The odd thing is that the filter didn't work yesterday when I was in Shinrarta, but since I moved 800LY to get there again, the filters suddenly work now? I'll have to experiment by leaving the bubble again I guess.

Yeah, it's odd. I still haven't gotten the full hang of it.

Someone mentioned a 40LY range in another thread but I have no idea of the provenance of that information. Seems to fit your observation though.

This is a bug, it must be. Sorry to necro a thread, but just yesterday I used the galaxy map to filter for Interstellar Factors service, and today no services at all are visible. None. Not even IF.

The 40 LY range restriction seems unnecessarily restrictive; I hope they'll get rid of that. I don't mind that you need to dock in the system at least once for your ship's computer to download info about the system's markets, that part seems reasonable.

Yeah I'm not even worried about markets, just services. Apparently there isn't an IF 40 light years from Deciat.

Try setting the map filter to show system security levels. Look for Low Security or Anarchy; if I'm not mistaken, any system at those levels should have an IF in its starports.

The forty light year limit applies to all items in the Services selection of the map filter.

You have to have had to dock at the station for the service to show up. Just viewing the station on the map will not let the filter allow the service to appear on the display. There is a bug report that was closed out on this as "working as intended".

Your personal journey continues.

Note: this appears retroactive to some version of 3.0, so there are even possibly stations that you have visited that may have been wiped. EDDB and Inara are the only workarounds.
