Talking about the V4 game on PC (ody/horizons live) There are multiple issues with galmap. I both encounter them myself (thousands of hours over a number of separate ED installation) and I also see my fuel clients get caught out (I currently ma few rescues short of 2000 so I get to see a lot, and spot patterns).
I feel that some galmap settings are getting actually lost when they should not be, and some are not being restored to the UI. (I get the tast of uninitialised memory causing this, but cannot be sure)
Issues:
On login to geme , the Fastest route, use jet cone boost, and cargo mass are not taken into account when plotting. it feels like (for me at least) the options are used are Fastest route, use jet cone boost, and ZERO cargo (as such if you always carry cargo (I carry 16 limpets most of the time) it can plot me overlength jumps. I also feel that possibly filters might be ignored - not sure on that last point though. FIX: On each and every log onto game, flip from Fastest route, to Economical route, and back to Fastest again. That seems to solve that issue.
If you flip between filters, it is likely that "Apply filter to route" will go missing if you have it set. This is particuarly an issue with the star class filter as the rest of the filter looks as if it is there, and you need to scroll down to see "Apply filter to route" is gone. Hello unscopabke stars, Hello Fuel rats!. I also feel that this can go missing on login to game but have not verified that part since before update 14. Like I say, I have verified this with many of my fuel clients). I think that since U15 I also see O class stars occasionally dropping off the filter on login - not sure on that)
If you arrive in a white dwarf system, you cannot plot out without Jet cone boost being used on the plot. Fix is to targert an adjacent non-WD system jump there, then replot. (Probably the same for neutrons, but not tested it)
Replotting a route without clearing the old on (or in some cases plotting somewhere else then back to where you want to really go) can be bugged, and plot the original route again ignoring filter or setting changes :/ Unsure of details here, but it's annoying.
I feel a lot of players put these faults down to falsely being their own mistake. They then fiddle, get something that works, and move on. Also the specifics are hard to tie down so the few attempts from cmdrs to put these faults on the issue tracker have been timed out.
Whilst U15 was shouted from the rooftops as havng significant QoL fixes. In reality the main general QoL fix was the thruster bug. There were a couple of other minor very specific QoL fixes but a bulk of thr QoL fixes were narrative related (and of zero interest to me). Important things such as these galmap issues leve a bad taste in the mouth and can only lead to player disenfranchisement, but seem to be continually overlooked
