Galaxy Map & System Map QoL

Everytime I'm browsing systems from the Galaxy Map and I click on the System Map for a star, after examining the system and getting back to Galaxy Map, it positions me back to the current location, instead of the star that I was looking into.
This becomes annoying when wandering around with the Galaxy Map.
For example, if I search systems around a particular star, everytime I look into a star system, I have to search again for that particular star in the search box, to be more or less where I was.
This is the typical thing that could bring some friendly behavior without much effort. Am I the only one?

I would really enjoy the map screens getting a little love. Not necessarily new features or functionality (although there's room for that, too), mainly having someone on staff spend some time looking at what the workflows for the end user are going to be and making sure everything still function properly. Right now, it really doesn't.

The thing OP brings up is huge. The default behavior of the Galaxy Map should be to bring up the exact same view with the exact same filters and the same things highlighted every time you open or close it - changes to this view should only happen when the user actively does something - either by changing the filters/view directly within the map itself, or because they were sent into the galaxy map from any of the various in-game launch points, such as Apex Interstellar, the "compare" button in the commodities market, etc.

There's a similar version of this problem at other layers of granularity within the GalMap. The various filters and view modes, for example, often have multiple toggles and sub toggles and settings nested within settings in them; and a lot of them reset in a way that is incredibly counterproductive and time destroying. The commodities import/export filters in particular are a real pain to use, because they reset seemingly any time you click on anything. It can take a minute to click and drag back through Import/Export/Both , Metals --> Steel or whatever, and then there's usually an equivalent set of filters to dig through once you click on a particular star system. The right hand column of system specific filters doesn't always default to showing the same commodities that you just a moment ago selected on the left hand side.

Fine, whatever. It's a complex game, and some of this is always going to be a little task intensive, and I'm onboard with that. It's the loss of effort that's so frustrating. If we're for example just looking to check a couple Import Systems for Steel prices, we really shouldn't have rebuild all the filter settings from scratch every time we click on one of those systems.

At least it would be nice to give us setting with which we can have suggested behavior
Well, at least there is an icon in the left menu options, to center current and target locations.
What I mean is that there is no point in resetting Galaxy Map position every time we inspect a system

I agree, I've many times exited out of the system map to the galaxy map and completely lost my place because it reverted to the current system.

One workaround is: I've noticed when you go back to it from the system map, the galmap will position itself at the system you have targeted, so if you target the system before clicking on system map, you'll go back to where you were.

Inconvenient if you have another galmap target you want to maintain, of course.

You legend. I could have sworn I had tried this before, but can confirm it works.
