Galaxy map system search - at least bring up possible systems in search parameters

So basically when I search I don't have to type in the full or exact system to be able to find it. You have to memorise the spelling and exact spaces of any system you want to search for.

I was thinking that....maybe it could be constrained to systems within your jump limit...

Other than that though, it's only a database. Maybe it would be better if the search field was expanded further to include filters for searching or something,.

I like the idea of adding additional search filters. For instance if a station exists or the economy type. Something like a preselection list would also be nice to list all matches with the distances to the current. Selecting one of the preselections would reposition the galaxy map.

You can partially type names in there and it will cycle through possible matches. You can also copy/paste in there, and despite no visible sign you can highlight text to delete/overwrite it all in one go.

e: but I do agree that we need smarter searches of the galaxy map, and better functionality in general.

You don't have to type in full names just do a partial.

I agree what's there isn;t very good though.

When you do a search on a partial it looks for all possible matches that start with what you requested, orders them alphabetically and gives you the first on the first on the list. It would be much better if it sorted by proximity as this is a far more common use-case.
