galaxy map, what does HD and HIPP mean on system info?

just wondering, some systems on the galaxy map have little numbers/stats below population, no idea what they mean, and i didnt see an explanation of it in the manual (speaking of which, the manual talks almost nothing about system stats and how they might effect the content/prices and related inside the system)

Yep, those are astronomical survey catalogue numbers. So, if you're a serious astronomy buff, you could search for a system by its catalogue name.

ah see, ive only taken a couple astronomy courses in college so far, so we havent gotten itno the whole "studying actual stars" part, its just mostly how to gauge star types, how to identify constellations, neat things to do with telescopes, oh and lots of measuring (and i wasnt even able to pay attention to half of it, due to my partner being a nasty distraction what with all her old-school scifi tattoos all over her chest, never before had i been out-nerded on any 80's or 90's scifi until i met her. damn was i depressed when i foudn out she was already engaged, she was literally the stereotypical nerd's fanatsy girl, anime, scifi, worked at a maid cafe at conventions, knew how to build a coilgun out of spare parts and use it, gotta keep tabs to see if her marriage falls apart)

*edit* also yeah, thanks for the explanation of the meanings, now i gotta go look up that information for everything
